Photos from the Melissa Ferrick show/evening are online.

Turns out Bob is a foosball grand master. Here's a photo of Bob and Gary (the other guys from Transpose) playing foosball.

Us and Melissa Ferrick after the show at the noodle place.

Look at all this garbage! (Plus the fire at the left, there was also a police car further to left but I forgot to snap a photo of it. And sorry about the out of focus section on the left).

We're on the 427 (now the 401) on our way back to Waterloo after an absolutely amazing night.

We just went and saw Melissa Ferrick at the Horseshoe Tavern (at Queen & Spadina) and she rocked despite only being on for 50 minutes. But we couldn't exactly complain since after all it was a free show.

The best part was after the show when Melissa and her fans (us included) converged on the Gold Star Noodle Restuarant. So there we were eating chinese food with Melissa and her band!

Now just the night before John and I had been at our Toronto Pho with David Basskin the head of the CMRRA who said you were living in a fantasy land if you thought a band would even give the time of day to their biggest fan. Essentially he believed that relationships between fans and artists didn't exist. Well I think tonight just proved how wrong he is.

Natalie's take on the night since according to her my weblog has sucked so much lately:

So we go to the Chinese restaurant on Spadina (I said GoldStone, Matt said Golden Noodle, I think that it was really GoldStar). So we're sitting down at our table and Melissa et al are seated beside us. We chat a little:

Melissa: So do all Canadians say "eh?"
Us: Yes.
Melissa: Yeah, Tegan and Sara said eh all the time (in a "it was soooo annoying" tone of voice).

The show was pretty good, but too short.

Melissa: I didn't even get to play Drive!! (to us in the restaurant while discussing how the next show would be full length [matt: she said 2.5 hours was her standard show length]).

On Sunday Neco Case is playing at the same bar (The Horseshoe). There was some Neco Case buzz in the bar, and I heard from reliable sources that she is phenomenol. So if you're in the city...

Finally, we missed Maeve so much. I missed Maeve so much. She's the one who introduced to Melissa and T&S and Kinnie Starr and so many other great female artists. We thought about you. It was mentioned more than once "If only Maeve was here".

Having dinner with the band you just saw play was very cool. Very real. I wish every show was like this one.

We also scored some autographed posters and told her about Fairtunes. I'm sending her a cheque tomorrow since I have 3 albums purloined from Maeve.

I think tonight made up for my blunder/adventure last week with Sigur Ros/Tori Amos :).
