After many attempts by Natalie to find us a truck, van, or SUV in the greater Toronto area failed I picked up where she left off. The first place I called didn't have any trucks but maybe did they have a mini-van? Well no they didn't but wait a minute, maybe they did have a truck if we could get it back to them by 2pm! Great, sign us up. So as luck would have it the place (Rent for Less) was literally just down the street about 5 minutes away. I raced over and picked up this massive 'cube van'. So by now it's about 9:30am and understand that while we did pack a bit last night we hadn't packed a whole lot since we were under the impression that we'd have all day to move since we'd have the U-Hual for 24 hours. No such luck! We had to be out of the apartment in one hour.

Everyone pitched in (Jonathan was over) and surprisingly enough we got a lot of stuff packed into that van in an hour (during which it was raining!). Granted by the time Natalie and I pulled out of Toronto at 10:45am there was still a lot of stuff still in the apartment.

We motored it to Waterloo and pulled by Langeman's place where we picked up 3 of 5 desks that needed hauling to my new place and conned Langeman into hopping into the van to help us unload at the other end.

On the road we had tried calling Donny but were unable to reach him... When I got to my new place I waltzed in to be confronted by a mammoth 52" RCA television in the living room. Turns out Donny went to Future Shop the day before to buy a $400-600 television and ended up loading a 52" home theater into a taxi (cost of taxi $20. cost of Future Shop delivery $35). But after recovering from my shock I got Donny out of bed and dragged his sorry ass outside (the had a movie marathan the night before).

In just under 10 minutes the four of us had completely unloaded the contents of the van into the back yard (donny and langeman were life savers). We were then back on the road and Donny and Langeman went to work moving stuff into the house (it was going to be raining soon after all).

Natalie and I raced back to Toronto and just made it back to the rental place before 2pm. Along the way Natalie got on the phone and started calling all the car rental places because we'd be needing a car to finish up our move. No one had any cars.

But our favorite little rental place just around the corner did. Not new cars but some older ones that he assured me would make it to Waterloo. So we secured a car and went back to the apartment to pick up the little bits and pieccs that we had left behind. Picking up the pieces actually took about 2 hours and we filled the car to the brim.

Without much ceremony Natalie dropped our keys off and we went to Wilde Oscar's for one last mediocore meal at our closest neighbourhood hangout.

Next it was off to Hamilton to drop off Jonathan, his table (previously it was Maeves, and before that it was used in a hospital), and one pair of blinds.

We finally pulled back in to Waterloo at around 8:30pm and unloaded some more.

Now the person whose room I was getting hadn't moved out yet because he was waiting for someone else to move out 2 doors down before he could move in there. So our new house is a complete mess of boxes, futons, and matresses in all the wrong rooms. I was planning on switching flights so that I could move my stuff in to the proper room before leaving for Winnipeg today but when I called this morning at 8am they said both flights were full and that I couldn't get a refund on my ticket. So I raced for Toronto to return the car. On the way into Toronto I observed a massive backup on the road out so when I caught a taxi I had him take the long way that by-passed the traffic jams but added some time to the trip. Fortunately I made it on time to the plane and didn't get bumped (I have a 30 minute rule. Always arrive at the airport with less than 30 minutes to go (which sometimes leads to bumping on busy flights)).

And now I'm on the plane happily blogging away wishing I had an internet connection so I could check my email.

..Almost forgot to mention that all of Natalie's stuff is at my place in Toronto since the person she was supposed to get the key from on Monday (or anytime this past week) was completely unreliable and never called her to get a key to her. She's not happy.

So we hate U-Hual but we were able to move regardless. Trust that they will be getting one long nasty letter as well as receipts from all the expenses incurred yesterday and rest assured that all of it will be fully documented here on the web to alert all the other students out there to the unreliable-ness of U-Hual.
