Natalie has announced a finders fee for you or a friend of a friend who finds us a mini-van or ~16" truck anywhere within southern Ontario. SUVs also accepted.
[8:45:24 AM] []

If you live in Toronto and have a mini-van or truck please call us! 519-589-1600.

Still no good answer from U-Haul.

Also our phone has been disconnected which also complications matters. Note to people moving: When you get your phone disconnected get it disconnected one day after you actually intend to move out, not the day of!

Hopefully our Internet doesn't get cut off this morning.

Oh, and archiving created a ~250meg file and didn't make my outlook.pst any smaller. Weird.

Already have one email confirming U-Haul's flakey-ness!

Couple days ago Lawrence Lee emailed to say Canada was considering getting a DMCA which is something we're aware about. If you want to keep up on stuff like this (Canada getting a DMCA (which is very bad)) then the man to follow is Michael Geist. But we really should find out how to get our voices heard. A quick google search reveals that there is already a website called Canada DMCA Opponents that we'll have to check out.

Like evhead I'm try to find a way to to do email with Outlook on both my pc and notebook. My PST file is about 600 megs so I thought it was time to archive some before messing around (I backed up the whole thing 3 days ago, which was a first (imagine losing all your old emails!)). It's now been running for 3 hours and shows no sign of stopping. It better have stopped once I wake up tomorrow because that machine will soon be unplugged as it gets moved which means..

My mp3 collection will be offline till my computer gets a static IP again which will probably be in a week or two.

And my blog will probably be taking a vacation for the next week as I travel from Toronto to Waterloo, Waterloo to Winnipeg, Winnipeg to the Lake and back to Waterloo via car (last leg will be a 20 hr car trip since we're bringing the Neon back with us).

I'm really liking the keyboard on my notebook. The machine is a little heavy at 5 pounds; the weight seems to be concentrated in the battery (was that the proper usage of a ;?).

So we're all getting fucked.

Maeve: Hasn't signed her lease and doesn't have a key for her place in Kingston to which she is supposed to move tomorrow. She might have to go spend some time back home in London which she doesn't want to do.

Natalie & Matt: We paid a deposit to U-Hual for a truck that we were supposed to pick up tonight at 5:30pm. They were supposed to give us a confirmation call Wednesday. They didn't. We've called many a time but yet they can't tell us when or where we're supposed to get this truck. At one point they said there were no trucks in Toronto (as if!). It baffles me that they can run a reliable business not knowing where there trucks are. Hello it's called GPS and the Internet. It ain't rocket science. So we're holding in there hoping that tomorrow morning they'll find a truck for us and that we'll be able to get to it. We do have some alternative plans:

Plan B: Buy a truck which has a 30 day money back guarantee. You've all seen those Saturn commercials right?

Plan C: Rent any sort of vehicle to which we can duct tape a double matress and futon to the top of for our 100km trip.

Plan D: Go to the bank, withdraw $500 in cash, stand on Yonge Street with a sign asking to rent someone's truck/van.

Plan E: Mini-van taxi to Waterloo.

Also only one person in Toronto has a key to Natalie's new place in Waterloo and no one has been able to get in touch with him. I don't have keys to my place (and I haven't signed the lease yet either) but don't worry, the front door doesn't lock!

Tomorrow should be a blast! :)
