So last night we were briefly in the company of a _very drunk_ person. At first it was kind of funny but it quickly deteriorated into a freakshow. It then became rather disgusting and we thought it'd be best if we left. And now we feel sad for them because they definitely have major issues and their time at University is just beginning. I hope to never meet this person on campus because I would feel very awkward.
Um yah, drink responsibly. When I rule the world things will be different. Here are two case studies: Case 1: We're at Staples and Natalie picks up a bulletin board for $15 but then I see a remarkably similar one for $6 so I tell her that her's must be $6 not $15. We go to the checkout and it rings up as $15. I could swear it was identical to the $6 ones (and later inspection reveals that there were a mixture of bulletin boards in the $6 bin) so the girl calls up another girl who goes and checks it out. Meanwhile the line behind us is growing. It's back to school time after all. After quite a long period of time the girl returns fully confused. They mull. They then decide that they need their manager. The manager is on break. While they figure out what to do I go get a different but similar bulletin board that rings up for $6 and we leave. How would I do things differently? I would have empowered the employees to make a reasonable decision which would have been to give us the $15 one for $6 and get us out of there quickly, efficiently, and with a smile on our face. Instead they held us and everyone behind us up for a very small profit margin. Case 2: We went to a bar this afternoon for some drinks. Service was terrible. It took forever to get our drinks. We were then joined by Donny and John who wanted lunch but by the time the waitress came around John had to get going. How would I do things differently?
While they had the room for us they didn't have enough service for us. So if you can't properly service the customer then politely turn them away at the door with a gift certificate asking them to come back later.
One of the hazards of vacations (i.e. a prolonged absence from blogging): Google seems to stop the daily spidering. Bought a new mattress today and ended up getting a discount because of these two photos that Natalie and Jonathan took with Richard Simmons.
We also loaded up on fans. Photos from my trip to Winnipeg.
