Why can't my cell phone company email my voicemails as MP3s?

(I received many funny drunk v-mails from friends tonight and would like to publicly humiliate them).

PSA: You can vote from today till Wednesday.

'Vote early. Vote often' was the phrase that the Mathsoc groupies were giggling over the other day.

Oh, and Darryl, vote for Aaron Lee-Wudrick since you don't have to worry about my girlfriend's wrath :).

The Bar Take Over page is back online. (I can't tell the difference between this one and the one they took down for 48 hours.)

It'll be interesting to see what the total cost of this bar shutdown is.. I.e. lost revenue + legal costs for both sides + time spent for both sides working on the issues..

Who I voted for (not that you care (and you should reach your own conclusion by getting informed. Of course if you're lazy just vote for who I voted for :) )) :

  • President: Chris Edey.
    • Appears to have the demeanor necessary to do the job well
    • Supports enumeration as an official platform. I agree that we need to get students voting and affecting both local and national politics.
    • When asked a difficult question (what would you do if we happened to have a student group engaging in hate stuff) at the Mathsoc forum he had a firm and definitive stance. He wasn't wishy-washy.
    • Hopefully he can get something done about housing. I don't think the 75m rule is going anywhere but a lot of work can be done cleaning up enforcement of by-laws and housing standards.
  • VPF: Rob Schmidt.
    • I believe that he'll actually follow through with informing students about Feds business via the Internet
    • Supports a Tim Hortons in the SLC
    • He's in Math. I must admit that I have a bias towards engineers and mathies (even though I'm no fan of the stereotypical mathie)
    • Lose the beard.
  • VPI: Leo Dominguez.
    • He's a male cheerleader! (I'm not calling him gay (not that there is anything wrong with gay (I'm gay (this is getting out of hand))), just you know, cheery.)
  • VPED:
But I must say that I am conflicted about the VPED decision and most likely will not be casting a vote. Part of the confliction is that my girlfriend has made it very clear that she doesn't want to date anyone who would support ALW's right wing views.

I don't know if I can simplfy their views this much. But it seems that a vote for Liam is a vote for accessible education while a vote for Aaron is a vote for taking a realistic stance on how to maintain quality despite funding shortfalls. I also think I disagree that CASA and OUSA support should be axed but I'm glad that our support for those organizations is being re-examined.

Update: This just in from Natalie (via email):

Vote what you feel!!! I told you you could vote for ALW. At least you're not an apathetic-debt-ridden student like the 20,000 (made up number) who aren't going to vote at all.
It's funny, she was trying to bring the education issues close to home by pointing out that some of our housemates have large student debt and that it'd take them decades to pay it all back and bleh bleh bleh. When asked if these students were going to vote they said they didn't care.

Robin says 'to represent', meaning that 1/5 of the students affected by our voting don't get a chance to vote. There's also the issues that the students most affected by accessibility are the ones who can't come to university and cast a vote. So think of them. 'Giddy-up'.

Bulletin:
And while alumni support is high (20 per cent of Waterloo alumni send money, top of the "comprehensives" and tenth nationally) that figure could certainly go higher.
Administration should treat us well now (i.e. allow us to open our bars) if they want us to even consider supporting the school once we've left.
