Mark Schaan a Rhodes Scholar!?

One of my best friends from high school is now a Rhodes Scholar. I believe he's Waterloo's first. Congrats :). I should post the message he left on my voice mail; it's pretty funny.

Now there are four critieria by which prospective Rhodes Scholars will be judged:

1. literary and scholastic attainments;
2. energy to use one's talents to the full, as exemplified by fondness for and success in sports;
3. truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship;
4. moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one's fellow beings.

In no way do we doubt that he's fulfilled 1, 3 and 4 but 2 definitely has us puzzled. Especially the bit about fondness for and success in sports. Has he been leading a secret life that none of us know about? Probably. So what sport is it? Bowling? Lacross? Maybe running. He must run a lot to get to and from his many meetings. Hmmm.. We'll have to do an exclusive investigative report on this puzzling issue.

All kidding aside... We are impressed though certainly not surprised.

I'm sure your all wondering what I've done with my life. Rest assured you're not alone in your wondering. So I'm trying to come up with a 5 year plan. That way I might actually accomplish some stuff (maybe even finish a degree!). I'll post the options shortly and you can all vote on what I should do.

It's been almost 5 years since I graduated from highschool. Here's what I've done:

• Had my eyes opened in Asia (6 month trip)
• Spent a year involved in student politics at UofM
• Completed almost 2 years of study at UofW
• Founded a company, got famous, sold it.
• Founder of a second company.
• (Update: How could I forget?) I write some self centered drivel for you guys! :)
