It appears everyone shows up to work late in the morning and then stays late into the night.

Our building also has a parking problem which I hadn't encountered because I get to work early, but today when I went out I lost my spot and had to wait for a bit to poach a new one.

I went down and applied for my social security number this morning. While I was only given the address for the Seattle office I figured there might be one closer so I went on the web and found one in Bellevue (Natalie - there were no guns).

I was in and out in ten minutes. Unfortunately it will take about thirty days to get my card but I can get my number once I get my receipt (in two weeks).

Update:

  • Blogging will be sporadic as I adjust
  • I will not be blogging while at work or about work (at least not publicly)
  • Friday night we had a quiet last night in Waterloo
  • Saturday I got up early. No problems getting H1B/I94 at the 'border'
  • Ran into Mira (a Waterloo grad) who was also flying down to MS as a new hire
  • Flights were relatively uneventful (we did not crash)
  • Once at SeaTac picked up our cars and drove to Redmond
  • Once settling in drove to Seattle to met up with John for dinner at Belltown Pizza. We then went to Barca and Linda's in Capitol Hill and then went back to Belltown and went to Cyclops.
  • Drinks here are more expensive but also correspondingly stronger
  • Sunday John and I drove around Seattle
  • Our conclusion? Seattle is small, doesn't have a lot of bustle, but is scenic.
  • Sunday was very sunny and a beautiful day
  • Sunday night we went to the Belltown Pub? for dinner. There do not seem to be cheap eats in Belltown and Belltown is pretty dead on Sundays.
  • Monday had orientation
  • Monday night got together with Mira and John for dinner
  • Today I am exhausted. Still not sleeping well.

Goals for the near future:

  • Cellphone
  • Apartment
  • Gym
  • Sleep

If you want to call me, try my 425 number, if that is busy call my cell phone and let it ring a few times, hang up, wait a minute, and then call me back on my 425 number.
