I forgot to make note of this but three years ago on February fourth I started blogging.

I moved my list of interview experiences to the UWS Actual Technical Interviews page. Hopefully the community can pick up the ball and keep the list of experiences growing.

CBC: Names sought in battle over internet song sharing
The Canadian Recording Industry Association will ask a judge to order the country's largest internet providers to disclose the identity of 29 people who share copyrighted music through music swapping networks such as Kazaa, Grokster and Morpheus.

I'm still puzzled as to why ISPs don't use short leases and delete their logs when no longer necessary for their business purposes.

And I'm sure if a ISP were to advertise that they didn't keep logs then that would work well for them.

Update: Canadian file-swapping case on hold

Justice Konrad von Finckenstein has adjourned the proceedings in the Federal Court of Canada until March 12, to study the technical requirements of the motion and how it would affect existing privacy legislation.

I'm now back in Waterloo recovering from my ski trip. My plan is something like this:

During the weekdays wrap up my loose ends (house, car, taxes).

Monday night after night class/exams we are going to Mongolia.

Wednesday we have the Brick brewery tour followed by Bomber. This will be my last Bomber (tear).

Friday we will go out. Presumably to McMullins.

Saturday I fly to Seattle.

Sunday I will begin my new life.

Monday I start work.

Old news: TiVo watchers uneasy after post-Super Bowl reports

I can understand why people are upset about this.

That said. I hate commercials. Or more accurately, I really hate bad commercials.

What I want is a device (Tivo/MCE) that tracks commercial habits. They could do it passively, seeing which ones were skipped, seeing which ones resulted in channel changes,... Or even better, let me rate commercials using the number buttons on my remote and never show me those commercials that I hate and more of the ones I like.

Of course, some commercials you hate and then learn to love. For example, those Hemi commercials. We do not know what a Hemi is but boy do we all want a truck with one.
