Quick few thoughts about RSS aggregators:
  • Pre-fetching. Scoble explains the situation well. He tracks 618 weblogs, I track 30 something. The advantage is in the pre-fetching. At home we're still suffering with bad Internet (it should be resolved soon) and everyone is complaining about it but I haven't noticed it that much since the majority of my browsing is now done from within my aggregator.
  • No wasted clicks. No need to continually refresh to find out if someone has refreshed.

Drawbacks..

  • Some sites don't have the full posts in their feeds meaning you have to click through.
  • I find it easier to fall behind with really high traffic sites. I.e. Metafilter which I've basically stopped reading since moving to an aggregator.
  • Easier to fall behind on non-RSS sites. If you don't have an RSS feed I'll probably only visit you once every few days
  • Comments.. No easy way to see how many comments are attached to a post without clicking through.

The left ear contact for my iPod headphone jack is bent inward and so I no longer get any sound from it. So today I cracked open my iPod hoping I could access the jack and use a pin or something to bend it back. Unfortunately it's heavily encased.

I checked Apple's out-of-warranty coverage and it's $255.95USD. I guess they just send you a refurbished item.

If you're interested make a bid in the comments for my 'dead' iPod [tear].

A National Post story I can agree with, Globe gives high grades to nonexistent schools:
The Globe's University Report Card listed medical schools at York University and the University of Waterloo among Canada's Top 10, though neither has a faculty of medicine.

The University of Waterloo's law school placed ninth, yet the southern Ontario campus does not offer a law degree.

University Report Card's response:
David Plaxton, a managing partner with The Strategic Counsel, blamed the errors on overly enthusiastic undergrads who do not know much about graduate school.

The Star, Values outsourced:
But in service to its mantra of delivering the lowest-cost goods to consumers, Wal-Mart has outsourced its social obligations. So have its blue-chip emulators. That's the real bargain that Wal-Mart shoppers have unwittingly bought into.

The Wal-Mart economy knows the price of everything and the value of nothing — certainly not of a well cared-for workforce, or of a full-employment economy, or of competitive marketplaces that have not yet succumbed to the predations of a single omnipotent enterprise. And who's to blame for that?
