Some G&M articles for you..

I know several of us have not been considered for jobs we wanted. Well here's the question. Should we edit our job skills?

In private it's called stripping. In public it's called customizing. But it all adds up to the same thing: Job seekers drop experience and education from their résumés to get "filler jobs," while they wait for a break in their chosen fields.

Yup, we're too smart; let the dumbing down begin :).

Stressed about university? Here's a radical solution:

From my own misspent early university years, I long ago concluded that the ivory tower is wasted on anyone under the age of 22. Make that 30. That may sound like a heretical thought to high-school students who are now triumphantly brandishing university acceptance notices, thinking how lucky they were to snag a spot in a market that is flooded this year because of Ontario's double cohort.
I took a year off after high school and while it wasn't what I expected it to be (backpacking around south Asia at 18 is not something I'd recommend), I have no regrets, even if a bunch of my friends are two years younger than I am.

I think my big regret is the fact that I do not have a liberal arts education.

I [Maple Leaf] T.O.

Lauren and I went to the Concert for Toronto today. Drove in just after lunch time and tried to find a place to park. There were lots of parking lots all displaying $5 signs. But the real cost for parking all day (and night) varied between $20-$30. This is not New York City. Fortunately, I had strategized that it'd be better to park on the far side of Spadina in order to make a speedy gettaway, this meant the parking was also cheaper. Only $10. What a deal. We then met up with Lauren's brother to get him his tickets and we then went to get sandwiches and checked out MEC.

We quickly bored of shopping and headed down to the Sky Dome to catch the show. We caught the tail end of Sum 41 followed by many, many other bands. Surprisingly the show was on time, which meant that as soon as one act was done the next was cued up and there were no interruptions. The Sky Dome was packed. The entire field was converted into 'floor' seating and practically every other seat in the place was filled at some point during the show. We had good seats. While good floor seats would have been nice I could not have lasted x hours on those folding chairs.

Highlights were Avril (I'm kidding, I'm no Sk8r boi (I even managed to nod off during her set!)), Barenaked Ladies who always put on an entertaining show (complete with SARS masks) and of course the Tragically Hip, who had a very rock out setlist (no surprises though).

After getting out the streets were a zoo so we grabbed a bite to eat but afterwards the streets were still a zoo! I didn't think the residual traffic would be that bad, or maybe there was some other event but it took us forever to get out of the city. There was also a (bad) accident just past Guelph so we got held up there. So we missed Ming's birthday, but the voice mails I got from drunk Orr were probably worth it.

G&M: Star-studded concert gives Toronto a boost

While less freaky than discovering your girlfriend's wedding registry but yet still a little on the side of 'where is this going?', Natalie's mom dropped off a coffee cake (as you very well know, Natalie does not live here).

But thanks Natalie's Mom, we love your coffee cake.
