My favorite commercial during the NHL Playoffs is from Hunter Steel:

and like steel itself we are here to stay

But really, who buys steel? However, if I ever do need some steel, I now know where to get it.

And if you have the transcript for the commercial post it below because it's funny!

I setup my FTP server again. Lots of MP3s, Hip bootlegs, and SFU season 3. Email with a suggested username and password if you want access.

One of my summer backup plans was to go back to school and graduate at the end of summer. But I got turned down for two of the courses I required. Thanks Waterloo! If you turn down me down for the courses I need in fall...

Maybe tomorrow I'll recount the story of our sublet mishap. I hear that the two other roommates are considering writing a book inspired by the events of the past weekend. Not that the story in itself is enough for a book, but its certainly enough of a story to get one thinking about how fucked up student living can be.

So we had a room mate, let's call them Pat*, who wasn't home much. When he was home they would cook up lots of food and put the left overs in a tupperware in the fridge. One day, Pat realizes the food has gone bad so he puts the tupperware by the sink. Now remember Pat is not home much so the tupperware (and its rotting contents) languish by the sink for weeks (at least two). The other roommates finally lay down the law and Pat decides to place the tupperware in his room and announces that one day he will clean it (he couldn't then because he says he requires bleach to clean it which we do not have in stock), but till then it will sit in his room so we are not bothered by the sight of it.

Now, months later and several weeks after Pat has moved out we had sort of forgotten about this tupperware. Presumably we had assumed he cleaned it at 3am on the night he moved out. Well, today while vacuming the basement I found the tupperware in a plastic bag under the laundry sink. We threw it out.

Thanks Pat* :).

Update: An anonymous reader suggests, "If the garbage hasn't been taken out, I think that you should mail it to him".

WTF?
Matt doesn't seem to be looking for a simple developer position. He seems like a startup guy who wants to manage a small company. Do you have a sense of whether he'd be happy in "just" a developer position?

Which small company is going to hire me to manage their operations besides something I launch with John post graduation? Of course I'd be happy in 'just' a developer position at a 'successful' tech company. I guess I should have dumbed down my resume and cover letter because it is clear that large companies do not want to hire young ambitious people who want to take over the world; they want code monkeys and I guess I do not fit that bill.

Ah well, it does not matter. I have an offer from my old company to work on merging our music recommendation stuff with iTunes (among other things (Gary always seems to have five off the wall ideas cooking)). That will keep me busy till the fall when I finish school and then John and I can start building the empire.

Yes, that's right. I do not dream of one day working as a developer/program manager at some well known tech company. What keeps me up at night is the dream of building an empire to call my own. What the empire will be based on is anybody's guess but I am aiming high.
