John we're enjoying your Maxim... :)

I just got a bunch of bootlegs.. They include the complete Music Without Borders show, and a good copy of Gord Downie's TT The Bears show. I'll try and get them online soon. Mark also lent me a John Mayer CD which I've ripped and will make available as well (read his review)

I meet up with Aimee (my sister) on Saturday in Toronto because she was in town for the University Business Games (UBG) which are 'are recognized as Canada foremost network building intercollegiate business school activity' but in reality they have nothing to do with drinking and everything to do with alcohol and public nudity.

She got on a bus Wednesday (in Winnipeg) and they drank/drove all the way through to Friday when they arrived at the 'conference' where the drinking continued and lead to much nudity (both male and female) and this was continued with more drinking and very little sleep. Nothing about the University Business Games has to do with university or business.

Hopefully she'll recount some of her stories (I'm still in shock from hearing them) in the comment section. If she doesn't go rent/buy any of the Girls Gone Wild videos and I think you'll begin to understand what UBG is all about. You can read more about GGW at DazeReader (disclaimer: I've never seen any GGW videos (he said with a straight face)).

Well, time to go back to my sheltered existence at the University of Waterloo where no one drinks for more than one night at a time (never mind 96 hours) and I've never ever seen anyone get naked at a party or bar (compared with all the T&A at UBQ). And needless to say I don't expect Aimee to be going to any more 'business games' conferences.

The CUTC homepage and The Bulletin have declared the Canadian Undergrad Tech Conference a success. Here is why it wasn't:
  • Absolutely awful location
  • No 802.11b accesss so you couldn't blog the conference.
  • Free software was really hyped as part of the conference and wasn't given out at registration because of delays so it was given out Saturday morning (presumably after a late night of schedule clubbing) but was subject to HUGE line-ups and the free software turned out to be a beta copy of Visual Studio and if you wanted XP it'd be mailed. WTF?
  • Low attendance at seminars
  • Conference is effectively a UofWaterloo conference so please change the name
  • Ineffective use of CUTC website & internet resources
  • To qualify for the website contest you had to have a static website that wasn't being updated daily.

Anyone else have any other comments?

I know that instead of complaining I should volunteer but I'm busy :).
