Curious about how to design better web forms I bought Web Form Design by Luke Wroblewski from the publisher, Rosenfeld, because the book then would come with a PDF for the same cost as buying it from Amazon. I ordered the book almost a month ago and it still hasn’t arrived (it’s been chilling in Federal Way since August 26th.) They shipped it media mail which I guess is code for cheap as hell but may never arrive.
As someone who is an Amazon Prime customer and used to two-day shipping waiting almost a month for something to arrive is ABSURD.
I will never not order from Amazon again.

We ship (occasionally at a slight loss) via USPS Media Mail because it’s the least expensive option out there for domestic deliveries, and most customers would prefer to pay less. Probably 97% of the time it works just fine, but occasionally the USPS screws up. Unfortunately publishers end up holding the bag (and the ones that care about their customers will send along a new copy at their own expense).
Because of this, we’ve recently started offering a more expensive UPS shipping option which is essentially the same thing you’d get with Amazon (although, in our case, you wouldn’t also receive the PDF edition for the same price if you ordered from Amazon).
Even Amazon is also at the mercy of its shippers; all retailers rely on the USPS, UPS, and Fedex to fulfill shipments properly. It’s impossible for them to do so at a 100% rate, and unfortunately your order was one that fell through their cracks. I hope the second time’s a charm! Zappos.com is worth ordering from too – both times I bought from them they upgraded me to overnight shipping for free! And Serena Williams is the teleprompter if you call them! So if you need Uggs for fall, I’d highly recommend Zappos.
