Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas!

Financial Reading

The Street has a financial reading list, Apprenticed Investor: Reading Is Fundamental. While I’ve been trying to read more, for instance I now subscribe to wired, Forbes, Harvard Business Review and Money my book reading has been slacking. Time for a New Years Resolution.

Designer alarm clocks

I’ve been looking to replace my ugly white fifteen year old Sony alarm clock with something a bit more modern (complete with glow in the dark stars that my sister put on when she borrowed it). My family did some investigation and turned up a Jacob Jensen designed alarm clock. It appears to be a bit hard to find to purchase, but certainly looks nice:

Home in Winnipeg

I made it to Winnipeg alright, only two hours delayed. Overall the flight experience was much better than last year which was a disaster. While I don’t normally take advantage of inflight TVs the Canada – Russia World Junior Exhibition game was on TSN; it made the flight feel much shorter than it really was. I wish in my post-cable world there was some way to watch hidef hockey… Hmmm.

…Looks like the Forks [pdf] has lots of skating options. I brought my skates home so I’m excited to get out there considering it’s a balmy -1′c.

NYE Plans

Almost every year I celebrate New Years Eve at a house party of some sorts. This year with no good house parties evites waiting in our inboxes and since none of us own houses to throw our own, some of us have been looking for alternatives. There were a number of bar & club options as well as the Heaven and Hell Ball and after much delibration this week we settled on Trinity Night Club. So today I went down and bought 19 VIP tickets for the low low price of $2525. We’ll be partying like rock stars in the Mezzanine if you want to come join us :).

No moose

I’m bummed that I won’t be able to catch a Moose game when I’m back in Winnipeg next week.

So many holiday parties

It was a great weekend of holiday parties as you can tell in this fabulous photo:

IMGP3908

Friday started off dinner out and we then headed out to this hot new club Tabella. Unfortunately Tabella was utterly disappointing. Looks like they spent more money on graphic design for their website than on interior design. I definitely do not recommend heading there. We then tried to recoup the night by heading up to War Room and Chapel.

Saturday after a few hours of shopping I headed out to two holiday parties. One a house party the other a loft party and the coolest apartment I’ve been to in Seattle. They even had on the order of 30 bottles of Champagne. Crazy fun!

Update: My mom left me a voice mail complaining about this photo. Unfortunately she didn’t get specific about what her objection was.

Time for new blogging software

Time for new blogging software. Please be patient while I iron the bugs out.

Update: Looks like everything is working out. I’m now using Wordpress instead of Radio Userland. Now I should have better comment support, plugin support for tieing everything together, categories/tags, new look, updated web tech,… The biggest install problem I had with Wordpress was that I had to set AllowOverrides in order to get mod_rewrite to work. Who knew.

Tomorrow I’ll switch over my Media Center site.

Note that all my old content is still accessible. I won’t be taking those pages down, unless I get really bored and figure out how to import RU into Wordpress and then figure out the appropriate RewriteRule-s.

Thanks to Fahlstad.se for the fDawn theme. I’m sure you’re all glad to see that old design go. Now I just need to drop my own photo in.
