treehuger, Q&A. Getting Started with Prefab. Lots of links on prefab housing.

I'd love to buy a tear down and replace it with some prefab. However, I'll have to wait for the Seattle real estate bubble to burst (any year now).

Americans have the shortest vacations in the world 12 days vs. 42 (via my money)

I get all my jeans hemmed so now I'm thinking that maybe it's time to start getting my shirts tailored. Why? I have several that are just a bit too long and would like them shortened and taken in the back so they're more fitted. Has anyone taken a shirt to the tailor and had this done?

(Okay, please stop laughing.)

Car update: I signed up for AAA Plus and tomorrow I can get them to tow my car back to my car place on Capitol Hill. I could get them to tow it today but it's a $20 charge to get service the same day you sign up :).

Update 1: I called Microsoft Security before heading home and they tried to jump start the car but nothing, so I took the bus.

Update 2: The 'canucks' alias where I posted asking for car shop recommendations is currently betting on the problem:

  • Battery dead: 2:1
  • Battery needs replacing: 3:1
  • Alternator dead: 4:1
  • Corpsec jumpstart works: 2:1
  • Tow truck necessary: 4:1
  • Tow truck damages car: 100:1
  • Engine needs replacing: 1000:1

Join the alias and place your bet.

Update 3: AAA picked up my car after trying to jump start it, push start and banging on the solenoid. It should now be at the Autopro in Seattle.

Update 4: The estimate is $400 to replace the starter and all the related wires. I could get a used one but I don't have a car or the time to drive out to the boonies to get one.
