CNET: Microsoft hopes youngers eyes have Office vision:

My suggestions:

  • WYSIWYG blogging. Effortlessly allow audio, ink, photo, and video to be published to the web in a blog like fashion
  • Desktop wiki
  • Desktop blog
  • Buy Newsgator and integrate into Outlook
  • Hire Kunal to integrate blogging into Outlook

Everyone in Seattle has been pretty excited about the big storm they had last Friday (that we missed). Here are some pictures to see what all the excitement is about. Looks like a plain old lightning storm to me. I guess those don't occur much here on the coast.

If I don't blog now about convocation I never will... So here is the abbreviated-but-at-least-its-been-posted version. I would have blogged earlier but life was BUSY.

Friday night after taking my Mom and sister out to Rushes (Rushes is the nice restaurant in the Waterloo Inn, I didn't know it exsisted until Tuesday) the gang hung out at the Hotel and got drunk. This made sense at the time but at 7am the next morning with nine people jockeying for shower positions I think some of us questioned the logic of a late night of drinking before a long day of ceremony.

All the time I spent worrying about who I would be sitting beside throughout the long ceremony was time wasted because I was seated beside John. The same John I met in Grade 7, the same John who I lived in residence at Waterloo with, the same John who lived at the Hotel, the same John now living and working in Seattle. I guess it shouldn't have been a surprise that we'd end up graduating right after the other. We were also the 9th and 10th people to graduate. Yay for St.Jereme's. I was conferred my degree by our school president. We made small talk about Microsoft and Seattle. I told him I looked forward to seeing him down there for his yearly fundraising trip.

Our degrees are shockingly plain and boring. For $30k you'd think they could at least have printed it on some fancy paper with a watermark or something.

After the ceremony we took a large number of photos including a few with our favorite CS sculpture. We then headed back to the Hotel for the BBQ which was known beforehand as the 'BBQ from hell'. However, it actually turned out to be a grand old time. Who knew that all our parents (and grandparents) would get along so well!? Sure we had to tell some lies and pretend that so and so was still dating so and so. But other than that things went really quite smoothly. The Hotel even ended up with a lot of extra food (and beer).

After the BBQ we all had a nap and then, of course, headed out to Bomber for one last hurrah. One of the highlights of the night was when a unnamed grad (you know who you are) stole a large quantity of ice cream treats from Scoops on our way out the door (he bought our silence with treats). We then took scary path (as he went to find a way to spend his remaining $6 on his watcard) and ordered pizza, though I think only two people were actually awake when the pizza arrived.

Sunday came and went pretty quickly; breakfast at Mel's followed by packing. Need I mention that I barely made my flight? Apparently when they tell you to be there 2-3 hours beforehand, they really mean it! :) We then had a scare on arrival in Seattle because Benny had forgotten his keys in Seattle, fortunately I had a set of car and apartment keys and we made it home okay.

Oh yes, thanks for the presents! I got some kitchen housewarming presents from my mom and sisters, a Tizio lamp from my Dad (which fits perfectly in my living room), and a 'I own Hotel Goyer' shirt from Lauren (to match the 'I lived at Hotel Goyer' shirts that all the current and previous residents received).

And yes, thanks for coming Mom and Aimee! I really appreciated that you guys came.

Other perspectives:

Photos as soon as my camera cord arrives back in Seattle.
