I recently had to transfer some money up to Canada and my preferred way of doing so is to move money through my RBC Centura account (based in the US) to my RBC account (based in Canada). However my first pay cheque was a paper one and since RBC Centura does not have a branch in Seattle (they're based in North Carolina) this was not an option.

The preferred mechanism of Microsofties is XE Trade but their application process involved too much paper so I resorted to the old fashioned method of express mailing a cheque directly to my local branch.

Who knew that it would be cheaper and faster to mail a piece of paper than it would be to do something electronically.

In the future I can just have my pay cheques direct deposited into my RBC Centura account but one idea I just had was faxing the cheque up to Canada.. Cheaper and faster than mailing.. I think it might work.

Keep in mind your mileage may vary and the RBC does not hold my USD funds (after much arm twisting).

Carpooling is my preferred method of getting to work but it's hard to get Katrina, Ben, and my schedules to align so today Katrina taught me how to ride the bus to work (Katrina used to drive/carpool but had her car stolen last week (she lives in the ghetto four blocks south of me)). The Microsoft express bus is only a few blocks from my house and only makes two stops before campus.

I've been busy lately. So busy I'm falling behind on my aggregator reading, laundry, taxes, mail, moving in and all that. Tomorrow I vow not to go out and get some chores done.

Interested in HDTV? I've poured over a lot of material recently and here are my three favorite links.

PC World's HDTV Answer Guide is a good two page article to get you up to speed on HDTV. CNET has a good glossary and of course you could spend hours on AVS Forums.
