John showed up. So we're out of here. Winnipeg here we come (our friend AJ is getting MARRIED).

I packed my skates so hopefully we can go Sunday.

Check my flight before leaving for the airport the weather here is wonky.

Last Imprint review ever! (I have The OC theme song playing in the background). Of course all my non-UW readers wish I never would have started them in the first place.

  • News
    • K-W's weekend of violence. It's not just me, the weather really is bad and driving people mad. Kidding aside, what the hell is going on? This is WATERLOO.
    • Course evaluations not online yet. Coincidence that I complained about this last week? Coincidence that Liam brought up online course evaluations when we were at Bomber last week? Probably. But anyhow, I have a long rant on this subject. Expect it next week.
    • Fed Hall will fall next year. Another good article by Ryan highlighting the fact that Feds cannot run businesses. How can they not even sell alchohol profitably? Hell, they'd probably lose money running a casino.
This means that, without the subsidy, Fed Hall may have only broken even for two of the last seven years. The night-club has consistently lost money for the remaining years.
  • Features
    • Tenants, protect your place. Good article. Though this should have run in January when all the first years are looking for fall housing. FYI, the University admin occasionally runs a short seminar for landlords but I've never seen one for students.
    • The Harem closes. Last Saturday Haremb said I'd like this article.. And he was right!
Aight, this is my last column for a few months so some shout outs are in order. Props to Hank Scorpio, Shaun T, PimpMan69, Matt Goyer, our lord Ganesha and to all hookers that take Watcard

Shoutout aside, I did find this article quite funny. We'll miss you Heramb (okay, I won't, but all my housemates will).

  • Opinion
  • Opinion Letters
    • Feds are being optimistic. Sorry boys, I read the Imprint, the Daily Bulletin and visit the Feds website and have decided that transparency and an informed study body are not important to you. I have not seen a single effort undertaken by your administration to improve communication with the student body.
However, we disagree with Mr. Chen-Wing's assessment that we are too secretive.

Shoutouts to Heramb, Michelle (we missed you at Bomber on Wednesday), Ryan C-W, and all the other writers I disparage; keep up the good work.

While unemployed in January I will attempt to write one (or perhaps) two community editorials that I'll try and submit to the Imprint gods.

Housemate:
John is nearing a break down. He slept in the lab last night.

It rains all the time here in Waterloo. I bet it rains even more than it does in Seattle.

CTV: Music group aims to charge Internet users:
Canada's songwriters will ask the Supreme Court of Canada next week to force Internet service providers to pay them royalties for the millions of digital music files downloaded each year by Canadians.
How much are we talking?
SOCAN is proposing that ISPs pay a royalty of 25 cents per subscriber per year as well as 10 per cent of any gross profit ISPs make through the sale of advertising.

I do not necessarily disagree with this. Regardless, it will take years for this to come to pass.

But I do disagree with the caching ruling:

The Federal Court held that the act of creating a cache of content means that ISPs are moving from their role as carrier to a role in which they actively decide what kind of content will exist on their systems. And that means, under Canadian copyright law, they should be responsible for that content.
