Last class ever!

Tonight in science class we got a package, thirty minutes and one egg. We then built a contraption for the egg and launched them off the second floor of the new enviro tech building. Disappointingly no one's egg broke.

I'm a huge Mark Cuban fan. From a recent interview with Xeni (of Pho and BB) in Wired: I'm a Maverick, Not a Mogul!

Are you concerned about piracy in movie theaters?
Not one bit. If we can't compete with some guy sneaking a camera into the theater, or a blurry, encoded, postage stamp-sized file, then please - just shoot us.

Now that is the right attitude.

UW Student: Part of Microsoft agreement signed
University of Waterloo has signed part of the agreement with Microsoft that caused so much controversy last year. It is, however, in a modified form.

It would certainly help if they allowed public scrutiny of these agreements.

...I just got a Google News Alert about this story. I guess they just recently started spidering UWS.

Wanna work for Bill? Scoble says they are hiring:
Speaking of which, we are hiring as fast as our HR department can move people up to Redmond and get them into temp housing here. Think you are a big brain? Come on up. We have the money. That isn't the problem. We're looking for smart people.

Now if only I can get into the temp housing in Seattle.. I hear 'Habourfront' is the place to be, not the stuff next to the campus in Redmond.

Another Microsoft quote from Dare:

This is probably the one of the most frustrating things to adjust to as a new hire at Microsoft; resource-strapped teams are the order of the day. There never seem to be enough devs to fix bugs and ship features or when there are there aren't enough testers to ensure that the code is up to snuff so you end up cutting the features anyway.

I had a few interview questions asking what I'd do if I didn't have enough resources, couldn't meet my deadlines... One of my 'official' reasons for wanting to work at Microsoft was that they had 'ample resources'. Many interviewers told me that they did but I certainly wouldn't get them. How then would I work around the constraint of not enough resources?

Datapoints: Google is also hiring. So is Amazon. I think the crash might be over.
