Question: Why has my blog been sucking?

Answer: The work situation is still up in the air.

Why does this matter? Little story. A friend of mine recently interviewed with Microsoft. A few weeks later he interviewed with another tech company. While interviewing one of the interviewers started the questioning off by producing a a print out of the questions he had been asked at Microsoft. They then proceeded to ask him questions based on the Microsoft ones. Yikes!

So to play it safe I'll think I wait till everything has settled down. Hopefully also by that time, school will be over and I'll have to find some new, hopefully more captivating subjects, to write about.

On Monday we went to a great show in Toronto.

The first opening act was The Lesbians On Ecstasy and they rocked. They also had an big projected ascii cam going on in the background. In between two songs they took a break and asked the audience how many had heard of 'linux' and a cheer goes up. They then launch into a mini-rant about how the majority of linux users are male but that they had one of the female ones and she had written their ascii cam software. They then talked about the benefits of free and software. It was too funny.

The second act was Les Georges Linengrad who did their whole set in character; their characters being some kind of horror house type ones. They were very weird, but also very entertaining. I also couldn't decipher their langauge. It sure didn't sound like french.

The final act was Le Tigre who, of course, rocked. Now I haven't always been a Le Tigre fan. Nat has all their CDs and they have never really grabbed me. But I thought, what the hell, maybe they'll play Get off the Internet. They of course didn't but seeing them live really changed my mind; I'm now a fan.

If you get the chance to see any of these three bands live, I urge you to go.

I'm taking Sci 206 this term, The Physics of How Things Work and it's a great class and I highly recommend it. Some of the highlights:

  • Launching rockets outside (that was tonight)
  • Making ice cream with liquid nitrogen
  • Taking apart a microwave and TV
  • All kinds of cool things with fire and liquid nitrogen
  • Professor laying on a bed of nails

It's basically highschool physics and chemistry but without the math. In place of the math and hard stuff, 95% of the class is demos. Of course some of our hard core physics friends make fun of us saying that they show the same demos to kids in kindergarten but whatever.

So if you're around for a fall term take it!

Finally an interesting post from Blogging @ UW. Dan, Walksafe and the dating scene:
I suspect that UW is secretly operating a dating service under the guise of Walksafe.

This is where I'd dig up a link to the Imprint article about the Ridesafe dating scene...
