Amazon should pay attention to the Review (RVW) Module for RSS 2.0.
This specification defines the Review (RVW) Module for the RSS 2.0 syndication format. RVW is intended to allow machine-readable reviews to be integrated into an RSS feed, thus allowing reviews to be automatically compiled from distributed sources.
Also, check out blam! Amazon review creator.
blam! uses Amazon's web services to look up the metadata for that item, then produces the HTML you need to paste into your weblog, including an image of the item, referral links to Amazon, and metadata that will allow sites like allconsuming.net to pick up your review (like this one).

As an added bonus, your review will also be posted to blaxm! for anyone to read, where it will be organised by category so you can find other people writing about the same things as you. There are RSS feeds there as well, don't worry. Your associates ID will also be passed through to the blaxm! site, so you can get commission from referrals there.

Amazon should be doing this themselves. I.e. every product detail page should have a link that takes you to all blog entries that people have written about an item.

My psych 101 textbook has a list of ten things to do to be happier. Two things jump out:
The most expensive forms of leisure (sitting on a yacht) often provide less flow experience than gardening, socializing, or craft work.
This person has obviously not raced yachts because I believe it is a great flow experience. ...Yes, yachting is expensive if you're the one who owns the boat. However, you usually need 2-8 crew on a race boat. So the secret is to crew. Your only expenditure is the appropriate clothing, beer for after the race(s) and a pair of sailing gloves ($25). Sailing can be an affordable sport.

Number nine on the list is 'Be grateful':

People who keep a gratitude journal - who pause each day to reflect on some positive aspect of their lives experience heightened well-being.
Maybe I'll try and post one positive post every day; try not to laugh.

My sister, Aimee, and her boyfriend, Ian, visited on Friday on their whirlwind tour of southern Ontario. I think that the mere 24 hours that she spent here only served to re-inforce her decision to live at home; a house full of upper year students on the verge of graduation is just not a pretty site.

While Waterloo may be the best it still has a lot of work to do.. I have started and well finish a short document on my time at Waterloo that will cover all the definicies (and good things) that I have encountered.

For instance, our undergraduate computing environment is awful. I have alluded to our 'slit your wrists' labs, overcrowding and lack of wireless support in the past. But my latest beef is that there is not enough computer science undergrad computing power. Having had to work in the lab the last few days on a project, while at the same time everyone in third year is trying to finish their operating systems, has been painful because there simply is not enough cpu time to go around.

I know many of you disagree with two-tier health/education/... but last night had it been possible to purchase access to more CPU time, I would have had my credit card out in a second.

Of course the real solution is to buy more boxes, or, allocate courses to certain subsets of machines. For instance, in our environment there should be at least one machine that is free of CS354 processes and CS354 builds.

I am also still left wondering why we use terminals instead of putting a whack of processing power on every desk.

UW Bulletin:
Waterloo slipped from first to second in the "best overall" ranking of universities from coast to coast, pulling in just behind the University of Toronto. UW had taken pride in being "best overall" in the Maclean's rankings for 11 years straight.
And,
Waterloo placed first in seven of the 23 measuring categories used to arrive at the overall standings. The individual measures where Waterloo placed #1 include average entering grade; student retention; student awards; classes taught by tenured faculty; alumni support; and reputational survey.

It's great to see that Waterloo is again one of the top schools. With the whole job finding situation I've found that there is a lot of respect for Waterloo from American companies; Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Sun all recruit and hire from here. In their minds we are on par with the big American schools.

I need to choose between possibly joining Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player as a 'program manager' and I would be interested in any serious comments that anyone might have on that decision.
