Power just went out. Both sides of the street. Everyone is out on the street wondering whats up.

The Globe and Mail: (Canadian) Recording industry issues warnings:

The Canadian music industry will be sending warnings to users who are offering copyright music files on peer-to-peer programs. In what it calls "the second phase of our education program with Canadian users of file-sharing services," Canadian Recording Industry Association president Brian Robertson said CRIA will use the Instant Messaging function of the peer-to-peer networks such as Kazaa to communicate its message to individuals who appear to be distributing copyrighted music without authorization from the rights owners.

Someone should sue them for spamming.

So I tried to change my Rogers cell plan over to a North America one rate plan on my GSM phone but apparently they don't offer that on GSM phones so I had to re-activate my klunkly 6160 and disconnect my sexy S40. I also tried to get the unlock code for the S40 but no luck. But really, what's the point of a GSM phone if you can't get a decent travel plan for it!? I know should be using an unlocked phone but then you lose number portability which is important not to me, but those of you calling me.

Also previously I had been on per-second billing but now they tell me that all their plans have moved to per-minute billing so I'll never be able to go back to that. Their reason for this change was 'market conditions'. Anyone know the real reason?

Of course I'm looking forward to the day where I can pay a flat rate for unlimited North American coverage ala Vonage.

Does anyone have a router I could borrow till September 2nd? I want to take my wireless one with me but my other roommates will need something while I'm gone.

Robin is giving a presentation today at the AM Summer Student's Conference on a 'Group invariant approach to separability in spaces of constant curvature'. I was thinking of attending and heckling from the back of the room but fear it will all be over my head.

Update: I hear Robin's group got first place.
