'Glad' to see it 'works' both ways, Doc:
My bank, Washington Mutual, recently held a check from a Canadian source for six weeks.

Meanwhile I'm cashing all the USD cheques of my friends since I wrangled 'don't hold USD' status out of the RBC over a year ago.

I remember (very vaguely) seeing a personal site where this guy had a large collection of books and you could borrow them from him. Anyone have a link? I can't find anything on it. Or, I could be crazy.

Update: Booklend. Thanks Kyle.

So, several debates with Gary today. First was, what sounds better FM or MP3? Or course it depends on your FM receiver and the quality of MP3 encoding..

Next is, in the future where will the money be, video or music? My vote is video. I already spend say $100/mn on video vs $5/mn on music. In the future music will rise (once itunes arrives for Windows) but I think video will rise even more.

So this problem at work is that the client tells us the server is timing out and the server tells us the client is timing out (Who to believe?) We're pulling our hair out and Bob is now camping out at the co-lo.

Not that I'm a big fan of Philthy's, and not that this isn't a surprise...

Philthy's

(From today's Globe (not that I regularly read the legal section.).)

Globe and Mail, Universities give gifts for students' rooms:
[Wilfrid Laurier] has sweetened the pot for the first 100 students who withdraw their residence applications, offering incentives worth $2,500. Students would receive a $500 food credit, a $500 book credit, and a choice of a laptop computer, a desktop computer or a Blackberry with an eight-month air-time package.
I heard that the big residence that Laurier is building on King won't be ready in time but that's not consistent with them being short only 100 spots?

After 4 years of playing hockey on campus I think they need to change the current system which looks like this:

A - Contact
B - No Contact
C - No Contact

To:

AA - Contact
A - No Contact (for all the players who want to play A in the old system but don't want contact)
B - No Contact (for people who are not beginners and who didn't play excessive amounts of hockey during their childhood)
C - No Contact (for beginners)

Why? Because for one, the level of skills in B are too diverse, and also because the pace in C is too fast if you're a beginner.

They can introduce an extra level because even during the summer there are enough teams in B to allow for a split.

CNET: Hot spots elude RIAA dragnet

Traditional ISPs give each subscriber a unique, if temporary, identification number while they're online. Wi-Fi access points don't, and that makes it difficult for the RIAA or anyone else to pinpoint exactly who is doing what using these nodes on the Net.
