Dell has dropped the price of my notebook about $1000. Ouch.

Call and harass your favorite spammers [via Slashdot]. Too good to be true!

People are now calling to claim that they're the ones who made me hip not Maeve. Too funny!

Impending changes to UW's co-op system.

Note that I'm not in co-op. I couldn't justify spending $1000/year for a couple job interviews. Now my two cents is that we need an improved system which gets the 'super stars' out of the system quicker. Who are the super stars? I'm sure you all know one or two. They're the ones who get 20+ interviews and 10 offers while you had 5 interviews and got ranked for one job. While it's great that they're getting so many job offers its turning out that a small percentage of the student population is monopolizing the interview process and job offer market which leads to many qualified students not getting their fair shot at a job and leaves employeers disgruntled because, let's face it, not every company is going to get one of these super stars since there are so few of em.

...I've got better things to do then rant about a system I'm not involved in :). TTYL.

According to this article websites give step-by-step instructions on how a healthy teenage girl can turn herself into a walking skeleton in six months. Here's a Time article on Anorexia Goes High Tech. Anorexic Nation is one such pro-slowly starving yourself to death website that actually has an Amazon Pay Page though I don't think I'll be adding them to my list of voluntary payment sites anytime soon.

I think I've posted about this kind of stuff before.. But MeFi brought it to my attention again today and I just wanted to again reiterate how twisted and unhealthy the net can be (but of course that doesn't mean we should start censoring it).

I got a spam email today from someone who is:

  • Disgruntled with their internet service provider
  • Promotes an anti-spam page!?
  • Is dyslexic (well he says he is)
  • And wants you to visit his site.

I should start a site where you could post your weirdst spam.. But remember, I hate spam!

Yesterday, Robin who wouldn't be caught dead reading this weblog, endured a 2 hour interview with lots of math questions for a job at TD. Today he got the job. Congrats Robin :).

Maeve (apartment-mate from summer) emailed today. She starts with the subject you're a nerd and then immediately tears into my value system with are you seriously going to throw out cds after burning them? have you no respect for the cover art, or the lyrics, or anything?. She rants some more and ends the paragraph with loser.

She also brags that she's still exercising (and I'm not), and that the only reason I'm 'hip' (which is definitely debateable) is because of her (which is probably true).

She also wanted me to see that her favorite Ani site, anidifranco.org is for sale with the bidding starting at $1k. Is this a hint that I should buy it for her?

Boy do I miss Maeve! :) No, I really do. And Maevers, you need a weblog!

I should warn you that my weblog (and everything else on this server) will be going down tomorrow morning for at least a few hours and at most a day. Donny but us a new server and needs to upgrade this one to the new one.

Google doesn't seem to be indexing me much anymore so can anyone recommend a better search partner? I have a specific one in mind that I think Langeman told me about though I've forgotten their name. I can even remember being on their site about a week or two ago... I'd also like to check out their corporate solutions but the url/name is escaping me.

Or even if someone could recommend a server side utility..

Is it:

[Artist Name] - [Album/Song Name]

or

[Album/Song Name] - [Artist Name}

?
