In about 24 hours, 420megs have been downloaded from bluemeanie and 234megs uploaded. Thanks to everyone who uploaded! I did enjoy the Phish. Adam says I need to get some live stuff though..

Now this whole idea of posting what I'm looking for instead of searching for it resulted in a post to our work mailing list which resulted in a interesting exchange of messages.

The whole problem with current p2p apps is that they're getting in trouble for indexing collections of potentially pirated music. What if we turned the paradigm around and instead of indexing songs that people have we index songs that people don't have. By fulfilling people's requests they would in turn mark you as a reliable person. Being a reliable person would position you at the top of the index (Well it's more compilicated than that. Gary's email was looong). The bottom line is. If you're nice and help people by sending them music then people will reward you by sending you the music you want.

The idea of waking up in the morning and finding 5 new albums that I might potentially really enjoy is very exciting. OpenCola's Folders is supposed to do something like this but you can't yet download anything (i.e. Vapourware).

So I downloaded the 2 meg Oracle ODBC driver and read the install notes.. Turns out I need the 25 meg Oracle Software Installer.. I download that.. I install that. I then try to use it to install the Oracle ODBC driver but it says that it needs a newer version and quits. This is the latest version direct from Oracle. Ughh.. So I then have to download a 200 meg package to get an installer + driver combo that works. That's right. 200 megs to install a 1 meg driver.

I just tried to renew our Fairtunes certificate through Thawte with my CIBC card but it was declined even though the limit is astronomically high. Two minutes later CIBC calls wondering if my card has been stolen because someone tried to charge $155 to it. I said that I had indeed tried to buy something for that value. Very strange, is Thawte on some sort of black list?

I *HATE* companies like MacroMedia and Oracle that make you fill out 5 page market research surveys before you can download their lousy products.

I also hate banks who don't let you have money that is rightfully yours. I was going to storm into the bank today with my new AK-47 but my gun hasn't arrived yet. Seems my FedEx shipment was held up because Customs won't let me import fully automatic weapons into Canada. Fortunately there is a Canada Customs Bitch Box where I can air that complaint, but really why don't I live in Texas again!?

..I really am surprised there aren't more incidences of bank rage.

I'm also having Oracle rage. All I want to do is install the OBDC driver but they make you jump through so many hoops.

Thanks to Mark Paschal who not only helped me through Permalink hell but also pointed me to Root Node which is now on our work watch list (well his blog pointed.. ).

Also a huge thanks to everyone who is putting stuff in the incoming folder on bluemeanie.mattgoyer.com. It's exciting getting all this new music to listen to. Also fills for Sarah Harmer's album would be appreciated (I saw someone downloading it and noticed it wasn't complete..).

I think John and I are going to New York state sometime in the next 7 days on FT business. Does anyone know of any cheap places to stay in New York city?? (email me)
