Maur from Espra did this funny picture of me. I think he used the photo of Brenda and I as a reference. If Manila had voting in it you guys could vote on whether the picture was a good representation or not :). Either way I think I definitely need a haircut.
Still not doing any CS yet (2:56). But I talked to John who did get to the O'Reilly p2p conference. He met the Espra boys, the Mojo Nation guys, and I think he met Rob from MusicBrainz. Well I must say that I'm jealous!
Got my CS241 exam mark emailed to me. Didn't do as well as I would have liked. But that is just the University of Waterloo for you. It's also the thing I hate the most about Waterloo. It's always kicking your ass and never lets up. You stop excelling and just start trying to survive. Is it any surprise that so many people are dropping out of Comp Sci that they're having to lower the mark to transfer in?
Well maybe I really should transfer to a program where I'd actually enjoy the course material and not dread doing assignments. I might even begin to learn for learnings sake instead of surviving through a course just to get a credit. What are these credits even good for? A nice piece of paper to hang on the wall? Buy a poster they're cheaper.
The only consoling thought is that not a single prospective employeer has asked about my transcript. They have also never asked me to talk about DFAs, NFAs, e-NFAs, DLX, or tested my knowledge of regular expression (hello some of us use GREP instead of doing it by hand). [If you are a prospective employeer and do ask me any of the above I may just walk out of the interview]
I've been working on a fan site for Gord Downie's new album. You can find the site at CokeMachineGlow.com.
Remember the Tintin Sex? The place to post funny search results is on Disturbing Search Results.
I also found this interesting paper titled Digital Music: Problems and Possibilities by someone at Harvard.
