I’m back from vacation and have some big news to share, September 1st is my last day at Microsoft. I blogged more about this on my work/Media Center blog, I’m Leaving Microsoft.
It was a tough decision, but it is the right decision. On to new challenges :).

hey matt, congrats! you won’t regret it. good luck and let us all know what you end up doing.
Hey, congrats Matt! Best of luck to you.
what’s a blue chip candidate
a candidate whose ego they try to boost by giving a title which implies large personal profit in the future
that was mean – a real answer anyone?
Blue chip usually implies stock, so a blue chip candidate implies a candidate the company is betting on to make a significant impact to the business, and as the candidate’s responsibilities’ grow, so does there ownership. My experience with such programs is exactly as my comment suggested, a rather hollow incentive for people to stay at the company longer then they should out of a naive illusion that they are some how being fast tracked to a path where they can make a difference (or where their particular creativity matters). In this case, I’m happy for Matt that he realized this sooner rather then later, and now he can go on to much more fulfilling (and rewarding) pursuits.
Cheerio!
