I'm sure this will hit the major news organizations soon.. but till then.

Reprinted without permission from Billboard:

Sources: RIAA To Give File Sharers Amnesty

The RIAA plans to announce an amnesty program this week that will let individual online copyright infringers off the hook if they change their ways, sources say.

The amnesty program would apply only to alleged infringers who have not been sued by the RIAA or identified by Internet service providers as a result of the trade group's subpoena process. Alleged commercial pirates will not receive amnesty.

According to sources, the RIAA will not pursue legal action if infringers delete all unauthorized music files from their computers, destroy all copies (including CD-Rs) and promise not to upload such material in the future. Each infringing household member will have to send a completed, notarized amnesty form to the RIAA, with a copy of a photo ID. Those who renege on their promise will be subject to charges of willful copyright infringement.

The amnesty program will be revealed at about the same time the RIAA is expected to announce the filing of "several hundred" infringement suits.

The RIAA had no comment.

So I guess Fresh Week died a silent death?

Globe and Mail, Strip club recruiters (on campus):
Cash-strapped students at the University of Windsor are finding the promise of long-awaited debt relief in the pages of the school's student newspaper as they begin classes this week.

Those who follow the directions and call the accompanying number, however, discover there is one catch to the tuition money promised in the ad. You have to take off your clothes.

In other news, a local escort agency is attemping to recruit UW math girls.

And thanks to Dinah for pointing out that September 6th is the Bomber re-opening. See Feds Events.

In other Feds news, Adam comments on Ground Zero (worst use of space ever):

The catch, it's now strictly a breakfast cafe. Open from about 7:30-11am each morning.

Also, reminder that our keg party is Friday the 12th. I'll personally email all the readers that I know about tomorrow to invite you. If I don't know you, you're of course, still welcome.

So we took the hit and investigated Weavers (and it sucks!):

  • $2 Cover Wednesday and Saturdays
  • No drink/food deals on Wednesday (no more pitcher and wings)
  • They re-painted the ceiling (white!) so the place looks huge and freakishly bright
  • They now have a bunch of (i.e. too many) flatscreen point of sales featuring finger print scanners to id the waiters
  • THEY DID NOT ACCEPT ANY FORM OF PLASTIC. Perhaps this will change seeing how high-tech their setup is
  • One less pool table. Now down to two.
  • No more foosball!
  • Though they still have the shuffle board?
  • They have a dance floor now. Perhaps it won't be used for dancing and just for the open mic setup.
  • Fish and Chips sucked. Go to Phat Cats
  • Pitchers are more expensive.
  • Full of frosh (how did they find it so quickly?)
  • Way over staffed and way old. A couple of the same staff are there but lots (and I mean LOTS) of new old age ones (i.e. 30+ and not students) doing nothing.
  • Had too much of a bar feel and not enough of a co-op badly mismanaged by students
  • Expanded menu now includes catch of the day at market price. How bizarre!
  • Bottled beer selection has been reduced.
  • More tables and seats.
  • Now full or shitty beer paraphanlia.
  • Closed at 1am tonight. How sucky is that? We then headed to Mongolia for a nightcap.
  • Redman (Ignatius) got really drunk.

In short, they ruined the one thing that made Waterloo tolerable.
