I usually stay away from the politics but here are some fun things that crossed my browser recently:

Do I have a life outside of work? Yes!

Redman is complaining my weblog is just about work. Hmmm..

Friday, John and I grabbed dinner at Tango Tapas before heading to the Garage around midnight to go ten pin bowling with Dan and crew.

Saturday, after grabbing food at the Grill, I meet up with Ben and Bria and crew and went down for Stephanie's birthday bash at a suite in the Hotel Monaco. After repeated calls from the front desk about the noise levels in the room we headed off to the Fenix where we could be as loud as we wanted. After a few drinks and some dancing, a select group of us headed off to R Place but I didn't last long there and ended up going to Chapel by myself to finish off the night and ended up staying there well past closing.

Now heading to Chapel by myself is rather noteworthy. I have never gone to the bar just by myself before and this was my first foray and it was a success. Of course it helps that I am now a regular and friends with the manager and most of the bartenders. But still, venturing off to the bar on your own requires a certain amount of courage and self confidence.

This of course means that we have achieved regular status at many of our favorite places. John is a regular at the Grill (the waitstaff there had a bet on whether he was straight or gay (I pointed out to them that they could tell by his shoes)), we don't get carded at Honeyhole or the Rosebud, and regular status at Chapel has its benefits (the drinks ain't cheap you know).

Oh but back to my weekend.. Sunday afternoon I played croquet in the park with Dan's crew. Who knew croquet, wine and cheese, could be so much fun?

Note: While MCE 2005 is only available to 'system builders' this does not mean you cannot buy it :). For instance, Newegg who sells to system builders stocks it and anyone can order it: Media Center 2005 at Newegg.

Joe Wilcox at Microsoft Monitor in Media Center Moves Out My TV asks:

If not marketing, how about a little evangelism from Microsoft? Just through blogging, Microsoft created way too much buzz about next-generation-Windows Longhorn. How about blogging evangelism about Media Center, a product Microsoft sells today--not two years from now?

Good question! I find it scary that I did not even know Media Center existed until I flew down here to interview for a job as a Program Manager on the Media Center team.

The good news is that we are working to change that. While we already have several bloggers such as Michael Creasy (SDET) and Sean Alexander (Marketing) we are getting a bunch of more. Myself and my manager, both PMs on the Media Center team will start blogging, as will the techincal PM responsible for our SDK, and also a PM from the Extender team will also blog. So expect a lot to come. Of course things are all hush hush until we launch.
