My officemate and friend Ben who has been here for almost two years does not have a Washington drivers license. When I found out that car insurance is cheaper here with one I blocked out time in both our schedules to get the process started by taking the written test.

Of course that time was today and five minutes before the scheduled time I still hadn't opened the book to study. So I cracked it open only to discover we needed three forms of id! I quickly sent Ben a re-schedule request but for some bizarre reason (Ben is very busy) he declined it and insisted we drive back to Seattle, pick up our passports, and head to Bellevue. So off we went, I studied in the car, he drove and we wrote our tests.

The test is easy. It's 25 questions. After twenty minutes of studying (in the car) I only got one wrong. I even passed the color vision test (the test I was more worried about).

In two weeks we're scheduled to go back for the in car test because I guess driving is just so different here that we have to be retested. And of course, if we fail the test we can still just drive off because we'll still have our Canadian licenses.

I've upgraded to Outlook 2003.. What's the client side spam filter of choice nowadays? (I was using Cloudmark previously).

We're having a get together at our apartment Friday night before heading out to Pioneer square (because I still haven't been clubbing here). I'll send out an email tomorrow (if I remember) but if I don't feel free to harass me about details via email (mail at mattgoyer dot com) if you're in Seattle and want to hang out.

Tonight we all went to dinner at Mamounia, a new Moroccan restaurant on Capitol Hill. Katrina was driving this dinner because she wanted to try it before it closed. Apparently it is occupying one of those high turn over type spaces. So short review. Food was great, I ate with my hands, some used utensils, there are belly dancers but not during the week, decor was fine but supposedly the downtown Moroccan restaurant has a better decor, you get can get between a 3-5 course meal for between $12.95 to $17.95. The place was pretty empty so it really might not last. Of course it doesn't help that the windows are always covered by big blinds. Though on the other hand, perhaps the place is packed when the belly dancers are doing their thing.

After dinner Ben and I went to see Sarah Harmer at The Crocodile. The show was great. Nice, mellow and suited my mood perfectly. Oddly there was a skirmish in the middle of the show.

The space at the Crocodile is pretty small and we're kicking ourselves for missing Snow Patrol there. Drinks are cheap. Notes for next time are to wear a t-shirt since it's hot and to avoid dark colors since they have lots of black light. I personally hate black light because it just exposes how little I de-lint my clothes.

Between concerts, hockey, sailing and partying I have no time to use my Media Center :( (I'm three episodes behind on The Sopranos and five episodes behind on The OC). Or no time to read, relax,... Life is busy though it isn't. It just feels like I don't have time for all the things I want to do. Solution, sleep less.
