John has a well linked post on how social views vary by region in the US:
Differences in social views are strongly regional, and in the Northeast and on the west coast (where I'll be moving in the new year) the people I'll live and work with will probably seem, well, pretty normal. Indistinguishable from Canadians, even.

Goombah gets mentioned by CNET in Search tools target digital music listeners:
An independent company has bolstered this with a new Macintosh-only iTunes plug-in called Goombah, which analyzes a listener's downloads, looks at other people's play lists, and makes recommendations based on the listening habits of people with similar tastes.

It's great to see real people using this since we spent so much time working on it. Even crazier to see people using features such as blogs that I designed and built. I really wish I didn't have to spend this week studying, I'd much rather help flush out the feature set and fix bugs.

For the next seven days I'll be living in the library (not literally) studying for my four exams so blogging will be light since I will be studying and because the DC Library has blocked all my favorite ports and I'm too lazy to setup SSH port forwarding.

But tonight before the big buckling down we went to Guelph to see Melissa Ferrick play at the Cafe Aquarius (quite possibly the world's largest vegan restaurant). Sadly, her drummer wasn't with her, but none the less, it was a great show, especially the super long uncensored version of Drive. I even bought her latest CD.

In other news... I'm sick! See, the way this usually works is that I have a stressful December, go home for Christmas and promptly get sick. But this time around I had two weeks off before exams started so my body got psyched out thinking it was Christmas so it got sick early. Hopefully once I move to the States the Doctors there will have no qualms about removing my tonsils.
