When there is a viable commercial alternative, and not using it runs a risk of jail time, and it isn't TOO absurdly expensive, people will use it like they use cable TV today.
Yes, I agree! I would gladly pay $5cdn/movie or $25cdn/month for unlimited (highspeed) movie downloads. They could even have a moderate degree of copy protection. I'm so sick of tired of driving around to video stores and fussing with Kazaa.

I drove to *6* video stores looking for tape 2 of Six Feet Under today because the DVD has Macrovision protection and won't play through our DVD->VCR->TV combo. Anyhow, every store was out of 6FU! Why they don't stock more than one copy, or why the hell does the DVD need to be protected just blows my mind.

Since we do not live in the States (no DMCA) I'm buying a 'video stabilizer' tomorrow.
