/.: RIAA Seeks Estimated $97.8 Billion From MTU Student. So $150,000 per song times 652,000.

$150,000 per song! If I walk into Tower Records and lift a CD, I'd likely get a slap on the wrist. Even if I walked into Tower Records and stole all their CDs, or even if I ripped off all the CDs in their warehouse I wouldn't be slapped with $100 Billion in damages.

Never mind the fact that the ENTIRE industry is only worth $40 billion a year.

So, why can't I check if Blockbuster has the movie I want in store? Why do I have to call or drive down there? Same for Chapters...

But really, we want to rent episodes 4-6 of Six Feet Under but it's rented out at every video store in KW. Now, what's really perplexing isn't that we can't check its availability online, or that I can't reserve a movie online, but that what we want is a sequence of 0101001s and somehow none of those video stores can give us the sequence we want. So why can't Blockbuster have a DVD burner in-store and then just burn copies when all their available copies are out? Or why can't they just deliver the 01010s through my broadband pipe?

Rogers is of course the company who should be providing all this. In Canada, they own the Internet, they own the cellular network, and the own the video chain. BUT, they're too busy struggling with convergence hell to provide us with the products and services that we need!

What we really need is Netflix and a Tivo but we live in Canada, a more technologically savy society, but we're smaller so we get everything five years later.

Kevin thinks I complain too much. So I looked into buying Blockbuster but I don't have $3.2 billion laying around.

SOOOO.. We're stuck watching Maid in Manhattan!
