At least at (our) Church you can wish everyone a Merry Christmas without having to worry about committing a grave social and political faux pas.

Though unfortunately Catholics seem to be much worse singers than the Mennonites we grew up with.

And I'm sure my sister booked herself a good couple hundred years in purgatory for a comment comparing catholism to cults on the way home.

I'm now being blackmailed into walking pyscho dog (who recently broke a 65 year old woman's leg by bowling her over (at the off leash dog park)) (I knew I should have bought my own presents).

I am not a dog person.

So what's up with Matt in Winnipeg..

Not much. Things have been low key. I've successfully avoided the malls by depending on other family members to pick up presents for me. Perhaps next year I'll break this cycle and begin to shop on my own.

I've spent some nights in watching hockey and the Louis Vutton Cup or trying to practice pool on the table I wish I could kidnapp and take back to Waterloo (unfortunately I'd have to kick a tenant or two out to fit in the house).

Other nights I've spent out with friends at old haunts like Toad in the Hole also known as the world's smokiest bar, or I've been lounging around at Gord's trying not to buy stuff, and last night we went to Rea's and drank (photos (with too much red eye)).

Tonight we're off to church at St.Paul's College where I spent about half my time when I studied at UofM then we'll have dinner back here before watching some cheesey Christmas movie.

It's good to not just catch up with 'highschool friends' :) and family but to also take a break from school, work, and the war with rodents over control of the Hotel's attic.

I can't say that I knew Jocelyne well but none the less good friends of mine were close to her, especially our 'math boy' Jonny who had not only been dating Jocelyn but living with her in Kingston while they went to teacher's college at Queen's.

So this tragedy touches closer to home and certainly causes me to step back with pause and think about her family and friends who will feel the loss so much more given the time of the year and the circumstances because today should have been a day of anticipation and excitement but instead is one of mourning and loss.

LawMeme: Microsoft colludes with public universities to subvert state public records laws. I betcha our deal has similar strings attached.
