161 update: The rooms are carpeted and should be windowed tomorrow ready for the new occupants Saturday night.

In the meantime we're going to Phil's tonight (first time in 9 months) so that Robin 'can pick up'. We doubt this picking up thing because no one in our clique talks to anyone outside the clique which makes picking up impossible. And of course we all know what the odds are of being the one who is picked up.

Today's lunchtime reading, Canadian Business: Schools of higher earning ' Investors are scrambling for bonds issued by universities':
While students typically spend years repaying their government sponsored loans which carry interest rates of between 7% and 9.5% annually universities are locking in their public debt for up to 40 years, at about 6.5%.

Don't worry. Waterloo isn't financing capital projects with bond and/or debenture issues they're just selling off courses to Microsoft.

I picked up T&S's If It Was You last night. After a couple of listens 'I'm not convinced'.

..I think I'm going to add a discussion area to EM where you can post 'recommendations wanted' notices. I.e. I wanted a recommendation for T&S (but Junkie is too busy bw'ing) and I'd like to see one for Sleater Kinney's One Beat.

I'd also like a site that would 'introduce' you to an artist. I.e. Beth Orton. Which of her albums should I be listening to and why? The site would also have lots of background information on songs. I.e. You'd type in the name of an Ani song and it'd explain to you what the song was about, why it was written, what influenced her to write the song at that time... It'd be an 'everything you wanted to know about music' kind of thing.

I guess this desire stems from the lack of depth I'm finding in the EM recommendations. I want more depth! Don't tell me to just listen to your album, tell me *why* I should listen to it. Tell me *what to listen for*.

Gary: 'I think these are real ideas about the direction it could take, using the same basic ideas of evolving text and enabling the best text to rise to the top. '
