The Neon has been Americanized! No more concerns about a ticket for expired tabs or for driving a car that should have been registered years ago. The downside is no more parking illegaly.

How to get your Canadian car Americanized in Seattle:

  1. Get a Letter of compliance
  2. Get your car to Seattle
  3. Get your car emission tested
  4. Go down to US Customs at 7 South Nevada St and get a Customs document but bring with you your passport and emissions test.
  5. Get your plates bringing along with you your cars registration, customs document and emission test results.

Cost for my tabs was $113. $33 of which was for the monorail.

My take on the $99 512meg iPod Shuffle is that I recently added 512 megs of mini-SD memory to my phone (an Audiovox 5600) for only $65. Not only is that cheaper than the iPod Shuffle but my phone features a display and is with me all the time.

Update: And just so you all don't think I'm some sort of iPod/Apple hater (because I have shown I can hate, i.e. the Roomba) let me point out that I bought a 1st gen Mac iPod well before there was even beta PC based support for it. The thing sat in its box for months before I could use it but I wanted to ensure that the minute there was PC support I could be the first to use it. Sadly, it was recently stolen and I'm iPod less :(.

Joel:
I miss Redmond. Where else can you go to the Gap on Sunday, come back to work the next day, and find twelve other program managers wearing the exact same thing you just bought?

It just so happens that, Brian, one of the PMs I work with, is wearing the same orange long sleeve t-shirt that I bought at Banana Republic (so the Gap) on Saturday :). And Chris, our GPM, and I were both wearing long sleeve green t-shirts Monday though they were different shades of green.

Though in our PM org the problem is more that you'll come to work on Monday and find that another PM just bought the same pair of G-Star jeans that you did.

Clothing jokes aside, that post of his is a good take on program management:

Can you imagine the phat skilz it takes to manipulate a developer into doing what you want, while simultaneously appearing to be just a airhead Club Med Gentile Organizateur? Not only do you have to erase your ego ("oh, what a smart idea you just had, Mr developer!") but you have to do so *while appearing to be a self-centered preppy*
