Globe and Mail, In (reluctant) praise of hangovers (paid subcription required).

Lengthy interesting article on the science of hangovers and possible cures. Not that you or I ever have hangovers :).

Enough with the doom and gloom travel stories. This past Saturday the Globe and Mail had a light hearted article, Flights of infamy. Paid subscription not required and you will laugh out loud.

I have a bunch a large number of negatives (~12 rolls of film) that I want to get scanned so I can get pictures onto my Media Center.

Does anyone have recommendations for shops capable of doing this close to either Capitol Hill or Redmond?

My great discovery of the holidays was the GST refund counter at the duty free place. I got $24 back, just enough to buy a bottle of vodka.

So next time you're in Canada, save those receipts, even your hotel one (for a small fee the Hotel Goyer would be pleased to provide you with a $1000/night receipt, j/k), and get your 7% back when crossing back into the States.

John has the details of our hike around Blue Mountain yesterday. And I have the photos.

Some of my favorite albums from 2004. Note that they weren't necessarily released in 2005 :) and they aren't in any particular order.

Favorite song of 2005 which I randomly discovered yesterday, Calexico's Crystal Frontier (Widescreen version) off of Even My Sure Things Fall Through.

In the old days of living in Canada I'd just put these all up on my websever for you to check out because I trust if you liked the album you'd either buy it or go to a show when the group was in town (I saw half the above artists live this year), but now that I live in the States I'm a little more concerned attracting the copyright police.

Yes, some of us had an awful travel experience this holiday season. But none as bad as this, Passengers Aboard Flight Delayed 18 Hours (via office mate Ben):
In an ordeal that made some passengers feel like hostages, about 300 people aboard an Amsterdam-to-Seattle flight were delayed for 18 hours on the ground, unable to leave the plane for much of that time, as food and water ran out and the toilets stopped working.
