So this is what happened. The 3:35pm Seattle to Vancouver flight did not end up getting off the tarmac until around 6pm. We got to Vancouver around 7pm and told the Air Canada representative on the ground that I had a connecting flight that was going to be tight. After clearing customs I waited and waited for my luggage but it never appeared. At around 7:30 I reported my luggage as lost, finished clearing customs, and raced to an Air Canada desk to only discover that while every single Air Canada flight was delayed with the exception of the Vancouver to Winnipeg flight and that it left without me.

Next stop was the ticketing office where they gave me a voucher for the Delta Airport (I could stay downtown but they'd only reimburse me up to $40!), some food coupons that could only be used at the Delta Airport, and a ticket to Winnipeg leaving Vancouver at 2:25pm the next day (now today). I inquired about a free flight coupon for my inconvience but was told that they only give those to people who voluntarily miss connections (!) and that my compensation was that they were putting me up in a hotel for the night (!). I explained my whole story about not even wanting to be on that Seattle in the first place, the fact that the flight was delayed because of them and that they lost my baggage and still nothing. He did give me the number of the customer service department so I'll be following up with them.

Fortunately for me Ming and Ben where spending the night in Vancouver before flying to Toronto, so Ben picked me up in my car at the airport and we drove downtown to hang out with Andrea. Things were pretty quiet in Vancouver at Lucy Mae's and Ginger but it sure beat sitting around an airport hotel.

I'm soaking up some free Internet outside a Maple Leaf Lounge in Vancouver). (Yes, I'm still not yet in Winnipeg.)
