What an hour!

Time to head to the park for some BBQ'ing, smores, bonfires and illicit drinking organized by Dan.

After ten emails and thirty phone calls we decided not to catch the 9:30 flight to SFO. The downside to this last minute impulse trip is that we had to return Sunday at noon. So instead we're going to go next weekend for the whole weekend for the same price. Unfortunately the trip will lose the spur of the momentness and we still haven't found a way to beat the heat.

Of course Redman is under the impression I was unable to commit to this last minute plan but I really rather spend a whole weekend in San Fran.

It's currently 94f/35c in Seattle. With a forecast of 94f/35c again for tomorrow.

There goes our plans to go camping! No way I want to be slugging a pack through the woods in that heat.

We're busy working on alternative plans:

  • My suggestion was to rent a ski boat. Only problem is there appears to only be one rental place on Lake Washington and they are booked for the weekend.
  • Ben's suggestion is the Six Flags resort.
  • John wants to fly somewhere. Details will be ironed out in two hours. He wants to fly to San Fran. $222/person including car.
  • Ming has no suggestion.

What are you doing to escape/celebrate the heat?

(I want my mild weather back!)

Career Builder, Dos and Don'ts of Hot Weather Office Wear.

I'm sure if you don't work in high tech these rules would apply but not here!

DON'T wear tank or tube tops, flip-flops or shorts. Even though it is summer and everything feels relaxed, it's wise to consider that very few places of business have business casual guidelines that include these items.

Hmmm... My officemate is currently wearing both flip-flops and shorts! And I've certainly seen some tank tops around here. People here appear to wear shorts year round. One person even goes barefoot in the office. And heaven forbid you run into our general manager who is always earing shorts and sandals to work.

Humourous take on Microsoft's recent aquisitions and cash reduction strategy, Microsoft runs out of things to buy.:
Microsoft stunned investors yesterday with the announcement that they were distributing 75 billion in cash because they had run out of things to buy. According to Microsoft CFO John Connors "With the acquisition of Lookout, we've crossed every single item off our shopping list. Frankly, there's just nothing left to buy."
