Media Center alternatives.

Media Centers are selling in Korea to be used to timeshift school lectures:
HP Korea, which introduced Medic Center PC M Series last Dec., is selling around 1,000 units per month thanks largely to the demand ignited by EBS lecture.

I went sailing yesterday. Unfortunately the wind didn't really co-operate. None the less we went out, popped the chute and drank some beers before heading back in.

...This was with the Olson 30 fleet. Olson 30's are lightweight, 30 foot racing boats drysailed with a crew of 7. You can pick one up for around $12k and if you want to mount a 'serious' campaign then you're looking at about $1k/month in expenses (sails, moorage, insurance, regatta fees, equipment...). This is definitely a fleet I want to get involved with but I'll have to put in my time as a spare and put in some time with the PHRF fleet before I'll be able to get a regular position on a boat here.

For random fun and excitement tonight we went to a wedding.

Whose wedding you might ask?

It was Dan Savage's, you know the guy who writes, Savage Love the scathing sex columnist loved by all.

His wedding tonight was the 'big gay marriage' that everyone has been talking about here in Seattle. If you're not living in Seattle here is the scoop in Dan's own words:

I may be the only openly gay man in Washington State who has a legal marriage license. Unfortunately, it's not a license to marry my boyfriend--the guy I've lived with for 10 years, the guy I started a family with, the guy I'm still crazy about--but a license to marry my [lesbian] coworker, Amy Jenniges. As much as I enjoy working with her, I'm not going to leave my boyfriend for Amy.

I'm usually not a big fan of weddings but this one was short and sweet . Afterwards I even got a chance to go up to Dan, say hi, and congratulate him on his sham marriage undermining the sanctity that everything us straight breeder folks are supposed to hold dear. Emphasis on the supposed to.

Yes, I met Dan! I spoke to him! Ahhh! Isn't that cool!? He was much more slender in person than his column's picture leads you to believe. He also lives on the Hill. I haven't spotted him around town yet but I'm keeping my eyes open now that I know what he looks like in the flesh. And after the wedding when he took off his Value Village suit he looked very average. Not the dreamy sex columnist gay guy that you'd imagine would be writing his 'just dump him/her' responses.
