My Mom doesn't appreciate the referrer story. Perhaps I need to explain it more.. Basically the web is a bunch of links. Whenever someone links to my site and someone clicks on that link the link of the page they were on previously shows up in my referrer logs. So if someone searches for something on Google and then clicks on a result through to my site I get to see what search terms they were searching for since they are contained in the URL (or link) of the site that they were on before coming to mine.
Now the funny, or interesting bit, is to see what search terms find your site that actually lead people to visit your site. Hence the wildy popular Disturbing Search Results weblog where people post strange search terms that found their site.
If you want to see the referrers for the last 24 hours for this site you can find them in the online referrer log.
So the point of my page is to collect the funny ones because my site doesn't actually contain the whacked things they're looking for. Which always leaves you to wonder what they were a) thinking in the first place b) what did they think when they got here and didn't find ...? and c) why do all those search terms appear on my site?
Various stories and postings on UW Student have lead to a group asking for the recall of Fed's president Chris Farley. While I love a little controversy to shake up our otherwise very bland university, I think things have gone a bit too far.
