Found a review of Ani's Ottawa show. I liked this line about her opening act: , Hamell On Trial. A one-man acoustic chainsaw massacre.
(Mental note: Dido: July 4th - Toronto - Molson Amphitheatre)
Thursday was hell. It was all about trying to do CS241. Today we actually had 241 and it went OK. I was expecting much worse. I think that's all I want to say. Put it behind and move forward.
dial 800-888-3999...listen till you get to 7... then press 7. Is a message I've received from two people. I passed the first time but decided what the hell and dialed in the second time. Actually it was last night before going to bed after studying and it was definitely funny. Rumor has it's increased their sales by 75% but it also means their phone bill is $10,000/day.
I started a page that allows me to vent all my Corporate Rage. I started with my story of bank rage which I had on Wednesday.
So about that Ani review. ..I really need a device that allows me to blog wirelessly so I could have sent a review in from the concert (or the car). I think I heard a rumor palm wireless was coming to Canada? Anyhow. The concert was great.
It started with Hammel On Trial who was great. Usually opening acts suck but this one man band rocked. His music was at times folky, at others very hard, and the songs were interspersed with comments and jokes. Many of which that you're like, "he can't say that!" I'm going to try and find some mp3s later on.
I love the Internet. Why? Here is Ani's set list for the night, which 183 people have looked at before me. Now I know which MP3s to go download on Napster. ..I wonder how long before a live version appears online? You see that's the beauty and power of the Internet. Of course people will say that I should be buying these songs. But you know what. I forked out (actually Natalie did since it was a Valentine's day present) $37 for a ticket the least I should be able to do is enjoy the music after the concert as well. And you know what? The next time Ani is in Toronto/Waterloo/Guelph I'll be lining up for sure.
I of course felt very out of place at the show because I'm not (in order):
- A grrl
- Lesbian
- Gay
- Granola-y
The best part of the show was that we were so close to the front which was because Maeve let us join her in line. She had been there since 4 or something to ensure that she was at the head of the line.
For such a small woman Ani is unbelievably energetic. She was bounching all over the stage. And of course her musical abilities are absolutely amazing.
Now if only
Tegan and Sara and Ani would team up!
