Pay the Band has collected 97 contributions for DMX since launching their service 3 days ago. Not to mention 92 for the Beatles, 88 for Brittney, 87 for Snoop, and 85 for Slipknot. Now we've been in this business longer than anyone else and I don't believe those stats for a second. But hey their graphic designer is better than ours :).

news.com ala Amazon is missing out on the inclusion of their Honour System. I'm sure they could have fun with that :).

Is the Daily Bulletin really a weblog/blog?

Fairtunes: Volunteer payment technology. The famous "online tip jar". [matt gets a warm fuzzy feeling] ..From a list of music companies that was posted to Pho.

Napster still works because I'm pirating as I blog. (I tried to use some OpenNap servers but there were all full).

SO I'm back from the dead. Now Sunday night I actually was close to death. Despite only being at Grebel for all of 2 hours plus an hour of hockey I caught the dreaded 24 hour puking flu. Consequently Monday was a writeoff and I spent the day in bed. But boy did I have fond and familiar memories of Nepal and India. Now if I don't add that my wonderful girlfriend gave me lots of love and care then I'd be in lots of trouble. 'specially since I hear that she was subequently very sick on Wednesday when I was in Toronto unable to help nurse her. Thanks Natalie! And sorry about you getting the whole flu thing (I hope the rest of her house doesn't get it too <g>) .

Yesterday and today I was in Toronto for the Venture Drive Boot Camp. Fortunately one of my buddies got me in for free because it wasn't quite worth the $500 asking price. I did learn some stuff. For example I learned what a Sales Funnel is. The downside of the conference was that the company who put it on and charge you to go was a) trying to recruit you as a customer and client and b) all the presenters where their preferred sales partners so some of it was educational and the rest was downright blatant advertising. Whatever you ever you do, don't charge me to listen to ads.

In terms of networking.. I met a few interesting people. Some stuff I have to check out more others had even more pie in the sky ideas then I do.

Now I did meet one very arrogant person who claimed to be a VC who has invested in the digital music space. We ended up arguing for well over an hour on anything and everything to do with digital music and at the end of it I tried to secure a card from him not because I wanted to send him my 'executive summary' but because I just wanted to know who he was (he didn't introduce himself (i.e. we didn't know his name)) but he refused to give me one! He said he had to be concerned about the dilution of his business cards! What's up with that? But oh, if he needed to bounce some ideas around he'd give me a call. Whatever.
