Was just on CTV's TalkTV with my favorite record industry exec, Brian Robertson, president of CRIA (read the Fairtunes interview). He of course thinks that if the record labels wrap music with DRM and include liner notes then we'll flood over to their legitimate services. Yes I would pay for a high quality MP3 but I sure don't want it dumbied down, and pretty up'ed with DRM.
He also thought it was great that the record labels (in Canada) invested $40 million this year into the record economy. Of course that's spread over only 125 artists. How many artists do you think there are in Canada? 125? Keep up the good work guys. Oh, what, without that invest we wouldn't have Celion Dion? Oh, so, sad.
I got a 97% on the CS251 exam! That should make up for my poor showing in CS241.
Napster to start screening copyrighted material. It's a sad day. Imagine if the same were required of Google or Yahoo? I've found countless MP3s, pirated programs, and products keys via Google and do we see anyone going after them? And of course it's always sad to see an industry at war with not only it's consumers but it's producers too.
I love it when Napster is in the news because the phone rings non-stop with reporters. Unfortunately though I have an exam tomorrow! Regardless I should be appearing on TalkTV tonight via the webcam. If you want to watch the show you have to watch it from their site not mine (because we use Net Meeting to do it).
The truth about Bell Sympatico. Thanks to the schobleizer for pointing out that someone else had pointed it out to him after reading something he wrote about me (ahh.. weblogs).
13 hours later Fairtunes is back up and I'm getting mail again. ..Turns out it was their problem, not ours. I'm not impressed.
