What a weekend! I'm still recovering :).

Jenn flew in late Thursday so on Friday afternoon (yay, Canada day!) we went out for a quick waterski/wakeboard even though it was 60'F and cloudy. We then headed down to the dock out front of Blu Water Bistro on South Lake Union for a Canada Day dock party. Sadly the weather was not cooperating and on the drive down I got lots of calls from people canceling to go to the movies or somewhere else warm. Inspite of the weather and cancellations a small group of die hard Canadians did show up and we ate and cruised very slowly around Lake Union. Next year we'll have to bring some fireworks.

Saturday was a lazy day of puttering around since we had stayed up until 4am the night before. My puttering included getting my wakeboard binding fixed and going to see War of the Worlds. At War of the Worlds I was reminded why I don't go to the theatre anymore. The tickets are overpriced, the seats were uncomfortable, and it cost $9 to get a small drink and a small popcorn!

Afterwards we headed back to my place where I rigged up my VCR for the first time since moving to Seattle and we watched wakeboarding videos from 1993. Am I that old that I've been wakeboarding for 12 years!?

Saturday night we ate in Belltown, got a drink a Del Rey which suffers like most Belltown lounges from the curse of really old men and really young girls and then headed back home to Chapel.

On Sunday we awoke to the second nice weekend day yet. So we promptly headed to the boat and got some wakeboarding in. First things first, I tried out my new el cheapo wakeskate (like a skateboard but for water):

We had lots of fun in the water, you can find more pictures over at Ming's.

Sunday night we hit not one, but two, Karaoke shows!

Monday was even nicer than Sunday so Ming, John and I headed out for more wakeboarding and discovered that as much as we want to we can't wakeboard four out of the last five days because our arms just weren't up to it. So we headed down to Lake Union were they launch the fireworks to check out the madness.

There were so many boats! It was incredible. We eventually took a break from the insanity by picking up Katrina and heading to a co-workers house boat for a BBQ. Their whole community was partying on their rooftops with a band setup on one. After socializing for a bit we hopped back in the boat and headed back into the madness where we scored a spot in the front line of boats in front of the fireworks barge. Of course scoring a spot was rather difficult because there were so many boats it was hard to drop anchor (without fouling someone else) and backing into an open area. We ended up rafting up with another boat and just stopped short of dragging our anchor and drifting into the large raft of boats behind us. We then sat back and watched the fireworks. We were literally on the front line and it felt like we were right in the middle of the fireworks. Ming's got some photos of the night. Afterwards with the boat covered in ash we joined the long caravan of boats back out to Portage Bay and beyond.

I'm disappointed that Digital Home Canada's Canadian PVR Roundup did not include any mention of Media Center, espcially in the standalone PC category.
