This weekend was The Opening Day of the Boating Season.

Unfortunately no one told me it was opening day until Friday 'you are obviously a new boater with a lot to learn' is how one friend put it.

So instead of organizing to have the boat on Lake Washington in time for the parade I woke up bright and early at 8:30 for a 9:30am hockey game in Everett for the Spring GSHL tournament. Usually we play on the small rink but this time we got to play at the Everett Events Center.

After hockey I spent some time cleaning the apartment and then headed off to a birthday BBQ for a co-worker. Of the fifty attendees I believe I was one of the only three single people there. Everyone else was married (but if I keep up my kitchen gadget therapy there will be no need to get married) and brought either a dog or a kid; I sure felt out of place!

After the BBQ I hopped in the boat for a quick spin through the apres parade boat traffic and then it was back up north for one last hockey game.

So after a busy Saturday I was relieved to find today overcast and rainy. It gave me time not just for a little gadget therapy and spring window shopping but I spent most of the day on the couch organizing my picture and music collections and reading the New York Times; I need to take days off from work and play more often.

I'm now bracing myself from another work week from hell (I scheduled a hair appointment at 6:30 on Thursday just to ensure I left the office before 8pm at least one day this week). It was supposed to be all down hill before I left for vacation but I'm pretty sure we all lie to ourselves otherwise we wouldn't keep going.
