Yes, I'm blogging again! Somewhere around the beginning of August I wiped my laptop clean and didn't re-install my blog reading software until recently so I've been blissfully ignorant of all the last happenings in the tech+cool stuff+friends+personal finance world. But not any more. I'm back on the bandwagon and here to prove that blogging is not a fad.

The other major blogging blocker has been work. There's just been so much of it lately. One of the major work items has been managing the development of an application that is going to be shown at the Microsoft Professional Developers Conference (PDC) in LA tomorrow during the Jim Allchin keynote. While I had the opportunity to spend my weekend in LA backstage getting everything ready I declined and will instead be watching the keynotes from my couch (thanks to Charlie who is backstage getting everything ready).

Really there were three reasons why I'm not going to be down there for the excitement. Firstly, The Standard was booked (I could stop here). Secondly, I wanted to go hiking this weekend and thirdly, if things go badly tomorrow, I want to be very far away :). So watch tomorrow's keynote. I lot of work went into that seven minute segment. Anyhow, I'll blog more about it tomorrow once it's public.

And the other major work item, is shipping Windows Vista...

Seattle Times, Transit services adding Wi-Fi to buses:
Sound Transit plans later this fall to offer Wi-Fi on 545 buses, five of which travel from downtown Seattle to Redmond.
Yes, sometimes I'm dysfunctional and use the open wireless at the bus stop to sync up my mail and newsreader before getting on the bus to work. Yes, sometimes, I do work on the bus. So for those days when I really want to work 24/7 this will rock.

The City Market (or 'Ket as officemate Ben calls it) is three blocks away and just today I bought a bottle of Ranch dressing to go with my wings. Anyhow, someone has a Flickr album featuring their signage (via Metroblogging Seattle):

New wiki page, HikesToDo.

And while we're talking about wikis... To the person who defaced my interviewing site and loaded it up with Lindsay Lohan spam: Damn you! My versioning had broken and I'm having to recreate the page by hand since the wayback machine didn't have the most up to date version.

Omar, Shortcut Keys.

I'm trying to get the shortcut key to launch MCE changed from whatever it currently is, a three key one, (I'd tell you what it is but I can never remember it (Win+Alt+Enter?)), to a two key one so that I can remember it.

All the PM's moving up in our org are pivot table masters.
