Another fun weekend. We started off with dinner at Black Bottle, a new 'gastro tavern' in Belltown at 1st and Vine, where we got an assortment of $8-ish plates. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food and will definitely be back; highly recommended. Then ended off with drinks at Del Rey.

Saturday we went skiing at Crystal where they had 12 inches new snow and the traffic was much better than last week. But I can't help but wonder why I can't print off my life ticket at home like I can for concert or movie tickets instead of having to wait forever in line. After a great day of skiing and a disco nap, spent the night enjoying vintage cocktails at Suite 410 served by ex-Chapel and The Strangers sexiest bartender bartender Alyssa.

Sunday spent the morning in bed and the afternoon on the couch watching bad movies and Nip Tuck.

Now that I live in Seattle, a city with the occasional earthquake, every few months I get forwarded an email about the 'triangle of life' or it's variant, 'ten tips for earthquake safety'. According to Snopes, the urban legend reference people:

There are some pretty substantial reasons why readers might want to take the article (particularly its advice that everyone who uses the "duck and cover" technique in an earthquake ends up crushed to death) with some very large grains of salt.

Ugh, I've broken three composite one piece hockey sticks in three months. Most recently, I broke a CCM Vector ($150) in a little cross checking skirmish. Fortunately it's still under warranty, but unfortunately, it will take some time to replace.

New York Times, He Made His Money on a Whim, but Now He's Got a Serious Idea:
The problem with Silicon Valley is that there is no "winning" because there will always be someone who has more than you, Mr. Hong said. The way around the rat race is to give money away instead of accumulating it, he said.

Mr.Hong's rule of thumb is to donate 10% of income over $100,000, but I'm more interested in how to achieve zen-ness with regards to realizing that you can't win.

I just got back a new 40 GB iPod Photo from Apple's repair department. This is the third time I've had to send it back. They sure don't make them like they used to! Since I'm pretty fed up with the quality on it (the hard drive continously fails) so I'm going to eBay it and pick up a newer iPod tomorrow. The question is, Nano, or Video?

Actually, that isn't the question, since I have no intention to use it to watch video. I can't even watch 480i content on my 46" HDTV anymore so how could I watch 320x240 content on a 2.5" display? The real question is, 4 GB in a small player or 30 GB in a larger player? Since I really only listen to the same few 'top of mind' albums on my iPod, which probably represents only 4 GB, I'm tempted to go with the Nano, but then there's all this talk of scratching...

And yes, I did check out Ipod Killers For Christmas 2005 and found no killers.
