I prefer the quiz method of learning versus that of midterms because it allows me to make little dumb mistakes which won't cost me much in terms of marks in the long run. It also forces me to think about the material at least 4 times before the final instead of just twice.

(While working on a stat lab I just realized what I bungled on last weeks quiz.. I also realized that I am an idiot and a) never should have tried to get a B.Math and b) if I can get a B.Math then anyone can)

Another day, another shooting: Four dead at Arizona nursing college (CNN)

I urge you to go see Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine which certainly doesn't have any solid answers for you to take home to comfort yourself with it. But it will at least in an sometimes entertaining, sometimes sobering way get you thinking about the gun problem in the States.

[ Consider that when ~3,000 Americans are killed by 'terrorism' the government eagerly begins to spend hundred of billions of dollars to win the war on terrorism but yet when 10,000 Americans a year are killed by firearms the government turns a blind eye! ]

Now the Globe's criticism of the movie was that Moore pointed his finger at the fear and paranoia created by (American) media corporations to fuel consumption but yet ignored the issue of gun control in reducing death by fire arms but it seemed at least to me that he felt that gun control wasn't an issue because while Americans do have a lot of guns, Canadians seem to have a somewhat comparable amount of guns per household and yet our death rate is dramatically noticably lower. He then goes to Canada to see why we're not afraid and paranoid and that in and of itself is one reason to see this film.

I'm starting to ramble..
Bowling for Columbine: Good
Guns: Bad.
Using fear to drive consumption: Evil.

And our student paper finally had a good opinion piece: Terrorists don't kill people - people kill people
