Toronto Star: Rock vows crackdown on illegal satellites.

If you think you (I mean Bell) own the 0's and 1's which are being broadcast through the airspace over my house then you have another thing coming.

And if you, Mr.Rock and the 7 supreme court justices believe that 'decoders' are illegal than I expect you to confiscate all the pens and pads of paper out there because they could potentially be used to take the stream, 010101001010110 (some snow), and convert, wait, I mean 'decode' it to, 01010101110101 which could be a single frame from the Simpsons.

..I'm too tired to really argue about this. The bottom line is: If you don't want me manipulating your 0's and 1's then stop sending them to me!

MattGoyer.com would like to send AimeeGoyerMySisterWhoDoesntYetHaveADotCom.com a happy birthday.

In all the 'oh my god it's May 1st have I':

  • Paid my taxes
  • Got paid for Fairtunes (no. (more later))
  • Paid for school
  • Started going to school
  • Packed
  • And unpacked
I sort of forget that it was also my sister's birthday. Fortunately the 'WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU' email from a certain someone pulled me out of my self-obsessed stupor.

If you check out Sony's quarterly results you'll see music sales are up 5%.

There was a week there before exams when there was a big EM lovefest going on. Lots of people were posting new recommendations and chit-chatting in the comments. Things have since slowed and I'm wondering what we can do to get the excitement back?

We need a database that lists all the 'free' music on the web. The Open Music Registry is a start. What would be even better is if you could query the database with xml-rpc/soap to validate the type of license for any given song. I think this would open up a lot of opportunities for both musicians and webapp developers.

My landlord and I have a differing opinion of how much rent I've payed over the last four months. He believes I've payed $'x' while I believe I've paid $'y'. The difference between the two is $620 (|x-y|=620). So last night I spent hours at Kinko's with my bank statements and hopefully wrote a concise enough report to convince him I'm right and that he owes me money.
